Sometimes I write funny things about cricket. Sometimes I have deep thoughts about Doctor Who. Most of the time though, I shitpost.

Went to the Justice and Police Museum in Sydney today where, amongst other things, I learnt about how they once trained a police dog to drive a miniature car:
Vintage photograph of a dog driving a small car. It’s very adorable. They’re such a good dog.

Watching an old episode of Columbo, where this dog trainer is clearly a time travelling Parker Posey:

Rewatched When Harry Met Sally tonight. Meg Ryan spends most of it being one of the most attractive women in the world, except for when she puts on glasses, when she suddenly becomes The Most Attractive Woman in the World. Perfect movie.
Meg Ryan wearing a red jumper and looking at the camera with a look that makes you think she’s one of the most attractive women on Earth.Meg Ryan is now wearing glasses, and is now The Most Attractive Woman on Earth.

Amidst all of the tragic beauty in the Andor finale, one of the things that really stood put to me was the production generously letting us have one last “you haven’t been talking to the rebels have you mate“ scene from Ben Mendelsohn. Perfect television.
Director Krennic pushing his finger down on Dedra Meero’s head, as he contemplates whether she has been talking to the rebels

Doing a Wallace and Gromit rewatch - this is still one of the coolest shots in all of cinema.
Shaun the Sheep on a motorcycle surrounded by other sheep. He looks so incredibly cool.

One of the few Doctor Who fans to be quite happy with the Celestial Toymaker animation, because it looks quite similar to what I imagined the story to look like when I was a kid. That said, if a child read the Celestial Toymaker novelisation and imagined this, I’d honestly be quite worried for them.

Picked up some old cricket DVDs at a secondhand bookstore today - was completely unprepared for the jumpscare of a young & hot Shane Watson.

DoctorWho question: Which story is this screengrab from? I almost want to say it’s from The Massacre, but that can’t be right!

2023: Blaze & Tonk. Incredibly cursèd designs. Empty white eyes that steal children’s souls if you stare into them for too long. They look like the villains in a corporate dystopia that tell kids to “Say No To Free Will”. Only saving grace is that Tonk is a fantastic name for this terrifying being.

2011: Stumpy. I would die for Stumpy, my large, enthusiastic son. What a boy. They stopped making mascots after Stumpy, and I can see why, because there is no topping this big boy.

2007: Mello. This creature is clearly stoned out of his mind. Turns up at the ground, hits a few balls, then goes off into the wilderness to hunt for berries while the rest of the team fields. You once had a deep chat with him about the nature of consciousness before he passed out in a nearby bush.

2003: Dazzler. He looks like a fun guy. Like the teacher at your primary school who likes PE, but not in an overbearing creepy way. He’s out there teaching kids about teamwork and speaking about how the Best and Fairest award is the best award in all sport.

1999: Willow and Yorker. They look like a cartoon boy and his pet egg that eat up naughty children that don’t get enough protein in their diet. Black soulless eyes that hide under your bed, whispering to you “skinny and lean, skinny and lean, that’s the meal that makes us keen”.

1996: Googlee. Googlee looks like the sort of cartoon character that you’d have in a maths textbook in the 1990s to teach kids about decimals. He looks he’d be kinda fun to hang out with, but after a little while he’d start going “hey, have you figured out what the NRR is for this match?”
