#OTD in 1913 – ITGWU leader Jim Larkin attempts to address crowd on Sackville (O'Connell) Street. Dublin Metropolitan Police and the Royal Irish Constabulary baton charge the crowd and cause between 400 and 600 injuries. This outrage became known as Bloody Sunday.

The Easter Rising of 1916 would not have happened without our Union. By the Spring of 1916, the ITGWU headquarters in Liberty Hall had become a bastion of opposition to British rule. The banner on the building since late 1914 stated that; ‘We Serve Neither King Not Kaiser But Ireland’.
