I check my voter registration once a quarter. Probably because i couldn't vote for so long (felon.) Here is your periodic reminder that "felons can't ever vote" is untrue in the majority of states. Coding has become more complicated since platforms started integrating AI into everything. These tools interfere with code and make it more taxing to fix. I was up until after 5 am working on Jotform conditions that should have taken a couple of hours to set up.

I bought 2 vintage porcelain paintings from an estate sale a few years ago. Today, I turned this broken frame into a cork board for Art’s medication station. I’m so happy with how it turned out. I need to replace the wire on the other one so it doesn’t fall & break, too. But, how cute is this?!

Plainly put, bringing shame into the conversation feels problematic, to me, because it puts a blanket statements on what people might be thinking of feeling when it's a more nuanced conversation than that.

yeah, I didn’t bring shame into the discourse because it's not for me to prescribe where people are at in their journey. That’s not my job. My job is to let people know that there are different ways of thinking about desire without pathologizing them or where they are.

Understanding responsive desire presents an opportunity to truly understand what DO we need to get feel desire and arousal & which comes first, for us. And a lot of people get it wrong because early messaging surrounded “accepting a partner’s advances” vs what conditions need to be met to get there

You’re welcome! We’re all taught that desire is linear. It's just not true for so many of us. I believe we’ve started to have better understandings of these things that include labels like demi- or sapio- sexuality.

I hope your found this helpful! It certainly helpful me reframe my relationship to desire, and, the types of relationships (and people!) that are in alignment with my ever-changing needs. I took a workshop on spontaneous v responsive desire during lockdown. It was extremely enlightening!

Naming responsive desire can also help people simply understand themselves, their current or changing stage of sexual life, and what they need in order to enjoy partnered intimacy. It doesn’t have to be about “shame.”
