With every sacrifice Khona finds the way forward becoming more and more obscured in her mind’s eye. Quest titles becoming illegible is the equivalent of her mounting despair fogging up her thoughts, making it hard to be smart about things and keep hope at the surface lest she succumb to the dynamis

i’ve (finally) realized that short bursts of creativity like WoLQotD’s help revive me/my creative mind by making writing (in all forms, even socializing) feel more manageable. here’s to hoping that continues to be consistent now that i’ve consciously acknowledged it 😅

In a somewhat similar vein (trauma) After the events of “In from the Cold,” Khona gets very panicked when the movement of her tail or ears gets restricted. The Garlean body she inhabited had neither. The physical feeling of no ears/tail is what her mind associates most with the traumatic event.

She absolutely is! From late HW til DT Khona would “shotcall” when fighting alongside allies. With Skyruin she realized she felt confident enough in her allies’ abilities that she didn’t feel the need to act as commander any longer. But just like a backseat driver, it’s a hard habit to break…

Witnessing the Sundering happen post-Elpis right after leaving the man she loves to suffer deepest despair for an eternity The First wasnt touched by the Final Days so she was able to sob and scream and heave all she needed with Ryne and Lyna by her side. Fire + Ice. Adjustments to her appearance over the years resulted in a very orange girlie. Pairing her with blue has become the go-to move. Lore-wise she has a strong fire-affinity which required focused practice of ice magicks to keep her safe.

she expresses gratitude by making a piece of jewelry for someone. for people she’s closer to she will go through the effort of finding a gem that makes her think of them. Ameliance, for instance, was given a white-gold necklace with three inset peridots that Khona spent days mining for.

initially just a gazebo behind her house in the shroud. she can’t do any sort of woodwork without the wood attacking her so she’d need help. but then her neighbors’ kids get all excited about it and she can’t say no when they ask her to, essentially, build a whole ass park in her backyard.

Khona is aloft in the air against the night sky, her arms outstretched as if she's about to channel aether. With fire aether swirling and coalescing around her form she embraces the power within her rather than shy from it.

Montage starts out with the movie’s main group of characters all training. After 7/8 shots of training the others start tiring out. One by one each group member drops like flies, getting slower and slower before finally just sitting out. Except Khona. She’s still going strong when the montage ends

Outside of WoL fame, as a kid she had been asked to endorse merchants’ products. Her hobby was sussing out shitty treatment of workers and putting the merchant on blast, so other merchants began to seek out her endorsement. She always said no (except for her Pa, of course)

If a kid is being stupid and won’t respond to words she would use force. Hardly any, mind you, but it would still get the point across bc it’s a child. If a parent is nearby she will consult them first. But Red Girl? Calyx? Those little shits are done for.

It gave her a real glimpse into the mind of those who know her only as the Warrior of Light. They often praise her but they could say something entirely different about her in private. So for someone to describe her as such, especially in comparison to a malicious actor, it really warmed her heart

She is a master artisan. An expert goldsmith who effortlessly picked up blacksmithing, cooking, and alchemy. But she cannot touch a length of wood without it launching splinters at her. She is supernaturally awful at carpentry. Thankfully she has a friend she can call when woodworking is threatened.

Khona’s recovery post-6.0 finally allowed her to digest all she’d gone through since before arriving on the First. Including all that *Emet Selch* had gone through. The unfathomable weight of it all crushed her. How could she want for that which destroys so much of oneself?

Khona heavily favors the Dark Arts/darkness and the greatsword. Meanwhile Hecate/Azem’s life was defined by her affinity for fire magicks as a mage. (At ~lvl77 MSQ) Hades learned that Khona had that same affinity, she just never had a mentor who could help her learn to control and safely wield it.

100% a tamagotchi. she’d go through phases of keeping up with it and then not touching it for months. first time she finds a dead tama she is so disappointed! after that, when Khona goes a while without caring for it Hythlodaeus maintains it just enough so it won’t die.

It'd be really funny if someone created a required click-thru window on any of those mods that said "UNDERSTAND THAT YOU SHOULD KEEP THESE THINGS A SECRET" in red, and at the bottom is the "Accept" button and it does this everytime you log in.

"mod what you want, but you need to get right with the idea that other people in-game are only ever going to see your vanilla model" is honestly a much more measured response than i expected, and it's honestly probably healthier for the community to discourage the development of a Mare successor

Her “artisan” friend group has a carpenter friend who is quieter than the rest of them but when he does speak up it’s always funny. She learned early on that he is not at all reserved in written word so she began exchanging letters with him, even when in town. His notes always brighten her day

As a lancer she was ~lvl43 when she joined the Scions. She often sought out the B-rank hunts posted by the Immortal Flames, though commonly hunted alongside a friend or two. Magical skill, though… She paused her BLM training once her strong, unmanageable affinity for fire nearly killed her.

In the Ul'dah markets Khona chats with merchants. Her dress is really pretty. A white, off the shoulder blouse with puffy sleeves is underneath a brown corset around her waist. A green, layered skirt with gold, floral details at the edges of the layers splits open high on her thigh to expose some leg. Can you tell I love this dress.

I popped the fuck off describing Neath Dark Waters (amaurot theme) to a group of people unfamiliar with ffxiv. “The melody is one of everlasting hope that is plagued by the finality within the tone of its arrangement” fucking bars, man

A screenshot of the comment I added below my submission of Neath Dark Waters for a Music League I’m in:

“This is one of the most meaningful tracks in the game. It's the soundtrack of a desperate man's sorrow, hopelessness, sentimentality, and fatally inconvenient love.

The melody is one of everlasting hope that is plagued by the finality within the tone of its arrangement- a strikingly, incomparably accurate picture of the story's progression from the moment the song is first introduced.”

Carpentry. She is a splinter magnet. Building a gazebo with her pa when she was younger taught her the valuable lesson that she doesn’t have to be good at everything. She has a carpenter friend who she calls the moment any woodworking is threatened.

Gems. Give her a gem that made them think of her and she will return with a piece of jewelry that perfectly compliments the gem. If the player denies an earnest request and/or a request that doesn’t require much from them Khona will think a fair bit less of them. The inverse will endear them to her
