I’ve been on this website long enough to know how out of context this can be taken lmao

niece: “you’re not gonna wear cowboy boots or a flannel or anything??” are you kidding I would look like such a poser

I’m currently in a rural area of central america for an agricultural festival, and you have simply never seen a whiter man

honestly considering it was a 20+ hour day of travel he did pretty good 😅 but yeah at some point it was simply too much for his little brain

Jason Singingpigs of Pipeline @singingpigs.online · 12h
also you can use LLMs for use cases like you just mentioned, and likely nowadays most people are. so that blurs the line even further
010
Jason Singingpigs of Pipeline @singingpigs.online · 12h
and specifically defs based on harm. e.g. from a technical perspective it can be argued that ML tools like you’re describing and LLMs aren’t too dissimilar, but the harm caused by one (stolen data for training, environmental impact, etc) vastly outweighs the other

Jason Singingpigs of Pipeline @singingpigs.online · 12h
yeah “workflow” to me was the first clue it was LLMs. I wouldn’t use that term with path tracing / enemy behavior / etc
120
Jason Singingpigs of Pipeline @singingpigs.online · 13h
yeah ngl this would activate the Stanley Parable part of my brain and I would simply have to see what’s beyond it

really funny to talk so much about the benefits to golf and then call farming “perhaps” more important
031
Jason Singingpigs of Pipeline @singingpigs.online · 13h
it’s extra confusing in games cause ”AI“ can mean so many things, and the talk translation doesn’t use any more specific terms, but the idea seems to be AI writing code, aka LLMs.

Jason Singingpigs of Pipeline @singingpigs.online · 13h
this article is confusing cause it’s in a game of telephone across two languages, but I believe they *are* talking about genAI, just not for creating assets. in the translation of the talk they mention keeping code open source to train AI, and integrating it into their workflows.

not to be ungrateful to the person who did drive us but I might have preferred that

amazingly he did great on both flights. the struggle really began on the 6 hour drive in a foreign country

would be a soft introduction of the concept of atproto for many people, and would also open up the ability for atproto microblog builders to really create their own spaces that are distinct from Bluesky
020
Jason Singingpigs of Pipeline @singingpigs.online · 01/10/2026
I'm imagining a scenario where I login to Bluesky and see posts with tags for Blacksky, Northsky, mu, etc. because they were posted to their own lexicons, but are visible from my Bluesky client since I follow them via the microblog standard lexicon.

Jason Singingpigs of Pipeline @singingpigs.online · 01/10/2026
standard.site is a very cool approach to lexicons and I really think it could be adopted for more types of content. a standard for microblog posts could pave the way for other microblog apps to actually feel like interconnected apps in the wider atmosphere, vs just Bluesky clients.

if you aren't already supporting @mothership.blog, you should be. support women and queer people in video game criticism and journalism. we deserve to exist in these spaces but, at least in the case of mothership, we can only exist and pay our writers and introduce you to new writers if YOU help us.

despite all the shitty things I also learned from religion, from other men, from the culture around me, I'm so incredibly grateful for the men who taught me better things. I'm going to try with all of my might to do even better for my son.

eternally grateful to my dad who - though deeply couched in purity culture - told me that if I ever find myself "lusting after" a girl, that I should pray for her, because "that'll remind you that she's a child of God, a full person with her own life and wants and needs"

eternally grateful to the sex ed teacher who played us a clip from an old Bond movie where he pins a woman down to kiss her (which she of course relents to and kisses him back), paused the movie, and said "this is sexual assault"

I've talked about this before, but I'm eternally grateful to the guy friends I had as a teenager, who, when my dumb Republican ass saw a woman jogging in shorts at night and said "isn't she kinda...asking for it?", turned and said "no one 'asks for it', idiot"

I guess to be clear: it probably isn't because of AI coding. I don't really think that. it's just not helping the case that AI coding is great, actually, when your product is so broken

Jason Singingpigs of Pipeline @singingpigs.online · 29/09/2026
well, hello from Blacksky man, I really am tired of how often bluesky is busted. I'm not gonna claim that it's *because* of AI coding, but it is really not a good look that the year they go all in on that is the year bluesky breaks constantly

yeahhhh I was gonna quote post it but it's pretty severely triggering. a label would be good

if you're wondering why I'm even bothering to come up with a "best faith" reason for this for fucking meta of all companies, I'm just trying to predict what they're gonna say in response to all this, if anything. of course I know it's bullshit
000
Jason Singingpigs of Pipeline @singingpigs.online · 28/09/2026
the best faith explanation I can possibly come up with for this is that it's a triggering subject for survivors so they're hiding it behind content filters. but. I would bet a million dollars there are other posts that are less harsh to the perpetrators that aren't getting hidden

One of the Cornell students accused of gang rape, Scott Kretzschmar, denies it and says through his attorney that they are going to “confront” the survivor through the court system. I can already tell you that means victim-blaming, DARVO, and smears. She is going to need a lot more of our support.

the language they get away with putting on the ballot is wild too. what was that one prop that was like "make medical providers use profits towards health costs" and it turned out to be a weird hit job by a landlord union

extra weird then when the very same tech people will later talk about how scary a world will be with X advancement (AI, encryption breaking, data mining, fill in the blank). talking about them like they’re inevitable. but!! you’re actively making them!!!
110
Jason Singingpigs of Pipeline @singingpigs.online · 26/09/2026
not to say there are no genuinely positive use cases for it, idk maybe there are, but I don’t think the mathematicians and engineers are thinking about that at all. pretty sure they’re thinking ”the fact that this is possible means we have to try it”. is that all??

Jason Singingpigs of Pipeline @singingpigs.online · 26/09/2026
I‘m slowly starting to see this the more I learn about quantum computing. one of the *only* potential use cases for it people have actually discovered is breaking encryption. I’ve seen a lot of tech nerds talk excitedly about how it works. I’ve not yet seen one asking why we want that
