For extra clarification, Twilight Princess was decompiled 100% by hand, and it took five years. Many members of the decomp team went on to make Dusklight. The project took nearly six years total and finished right before this current wave of slop ports. But we do try to make the minimal AI use clear

Great list! I work with Dusklight, so I should mention there is some very minimal AI use by some developers for things like organization of large code bases, research and whatnot. The code is handled by humans but if this is a list of 100% anti-AI, human-hands projects, you have the right to know!

(still stiff) Not long enough. Where’s Tails?

At his workshop working on one of his machines. The little guy’s busy, so I figured I’d head out on my own for awhile. He’s partly why I’m here, though.

Panel 3- Sonic is more in focus, maybe a hand out and gesturing as he recounts the story. Alternatively, you could have him petting one of the animals to get across his dynamic with them.

(F) Sonic
He wanted to take some time to study the Chaos Emeralds. We have one on hand, but he said he needs another to see if they have different properties. I figured I should check here to see if one wound up on Angel Island since they scatter all over.

Guess I’m lucky you decided to pay attention. I know you found it and all, but maybe I could-

Here. Take it.

(E) Sonic
Huh?

Panel 4- Knuckles has turned his back from Sonic and is walking away from the hedgehog, a hand up as if to dismiss him. Sonic is holding the emerald in both hands.

You got what you came for. My job guarding the Master Emerald will be easier if I don’t have to worry about the other emeralds attracting attention.

Panel 5- Knuckles is alone, walking to the right from the Panel’s point of view, his eyes closed. (This panel is a joke set up, Sonic’s speed blur should be seen going from behind Knuckles and past him and lead into next panel)

I don’t mind, besides, I better get back to work. Have a safe flight back, give Tails my best.

Panel 6- Near match panel, but now Sonic has zipped in front of Knuckles, the speed trail stopping behind Sonic. Knuckles is stopped, surprised Sonic’s in front of him now. Sonic has an impish grin.

Thanks, pal, but it doesn’t feel right just grabbing this and leaving. Besides, I just got here and I need to stretch my legs a bit. You sure I can’t do something to help you out as thanks?

Growing up in a conservative area I'd read about the early 1900's and listen to Black writers saying "A white man can kill a Black man for any reason and get away with it." I should note, I also work in multiple segments like this, but my final step is to drop all the segments into a final "Render" segment and render them all at once, which Premiere allows. So I just wondered if there was a benefit to rendering them individually first that I'm missing out on? 😊

Curious, what's the motivation for rendering in 20+ separate segments first? As a professional editor I've never needed to do this. Is it an issue with scenes that have large, multi-hour 4K video files, and having those up in the cache is a performance impact? Or does it just help your process?

I am firmly anti-AI, and I've had long conversations with the Dusklight devs about how AI is/isn't involved with their process. This is not as black and white as image/video generation. There are limited -yet powerful- applications for AI in programming when used sparingly by a skilled developer.

Dusklight was made by talented humans volunteering their time. If you count the decompilation, it took nearly six years to create. A few members of the team use automation for menial tasks, but anyone claiming Dusklight was "written by AI" is either lying, or has been lied to. Nuance matters here.

The logical solution to this is a universal basic income so anyone can dedicate their time to creating worthwhile art. Many countries also directly fund the arts, so genres or works that would not be profitable can still be made. I believe art needs to exist, whether it's profitable or not. It must.
