Eric Schmitt is what happens when a state becomes so red that you don’t need to be a talented politician to become a US Senator. And to be fair, there are examples of this in blue states too. Iron sharpens iron.

Skipton invested £300 in the business and the partnership was created. Their market stalls were call Penny Bazaars and transformed into shops and uniquely for the time allowed customers to browse without any pressure to buy. So many of their shops have closed in recent years especially in post
This photo shows the M&S Penny Bazaar at Leeds Cross Arcade, 1909. Between 1903 and 1907 M&S opened 24 new branches, with more than 60 in total by the end of 1907. In 1904 M&S took eight shop units on a short lease in the newly opened Cross Arcade. The arcade was owned by the Leeds Estate Company, who were having difficulty finding tenants to move into the empty units, Michael Marks took a chance, and the Cross Arcade was soon established as a new shopping street to rival busy Briggate. Each of the eight units contained a different department; hardware, china ornaments, tinware, toys, fancy goods, stationery, crockery and haberdashery. It was later removed and stored for more than a century before being rediscovered and restored. Today, it surrounds the East Bedroom as a remarkable panoramic artwork
The East Bedroom at Harewood House is a stunning example of 18th-century Chinoiserie style. Its standout feature is the rare, hand-painted Chinese wallpaper made from mulberry bark. The panels form a single panoramic mural around the room, detailing idealized scenes of traditional Chinese industries like tea, silk, and porcelain production. Complementing the vibrant walls is exquisite green-ground lacquer furniture designed by Thomas Chippendale. Together with the grand canopy bed, the room reflects the high Georgian fascination with Eastern luxury. Image Michael D Beckwith Public Domain
