An embryo-derived peptide signal directs endosperm polarity in Arabidopsis
Angiosperm seed formation requires the coordinated development of the products of double fertilization—the embryo and the endosperm. The endosperm mediates efficient nutrient transfer from surrounding...

Check out our latest work! AlphaFold 3 revealed a transient immune receptor complex that eluded biochemical studies for almost a decade 🤯 We describe a conserved structural logic underlying sensor–helper communication in an NLR immune receptor network 🧵👇

A new "LORE" paper is out from Ranf lab at TUM in Germany and University of Fribourg in Switzerland: www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6... Fatty acid-sensing receptors were previously only described in Arabidopsis. Do they function the same way in other plants?

β-sheet stabilization of the island domain underlies ligand-induced LRR-RP activation of plant immune signaling
Nature Communications - Using AI-based structural modeling, the authors reveal the ligand-binding and subsequent receptor complex formation mechanisms of three LRR-RP-type plant PRRs and propose a...

Shedding light on the structure-function mechanisms of LRR-RPs. Our research merges #AlphaFold3, years of literature and functional validation to reveal diverse ligand-binding mechanisms and a conserved co-receptor association mechanism. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

Speak up to prevent a major loss for the field. CASP, which helped shaping structural biology including AlphaFold is on the verge of shutting down. NIH funding has lapsed, UC Davis support ends and the core team is being let go. Painfully shortsighted.
