How a subeditor was tricked into disregarding reality.

Poorly sick right now, but still managed to get something achieved today.
A bound notebook, photographed close in, standing upright on a wooden table. The book is angled so we can see that on both its spine and front is printed, black on white stickers, 1st Oct '25 + 4th Oct '26. The spine has written on it also "BJ1". In gold lettering on the cover are the words "BULLET PLANNER".

Strong "lie detector" energy to this:
Guardian clipping that reads:

Sampson, who is now a non-executive director of Facewatch, a company that operates facial recognition systems in shops, added: "We know the technology works, but using it in supermarkets to deter shoplifters and prevent attacks on staff is very different from deploying it to catch people on a public transport network.

"Success in a shop means no such people coming in. Success for the police trying to catch people means people being caught. In that respect the trial doesn't appear to have been very fruitful.

A man in his early fifties, grey beard and glasses sat on a train grinning inanely out of the window. Through the window we see trees, bushes and additional railway lines.

This album art for made-up band Blue Jeans Committee is a really specific reference isn't it? I swear I recognise it as being something in my parents long-gone vinyl collection but can't find it.
A record slid two thirds of the way out of an album sleeve. On the album sleeve is a dandelion clock, mostly complete, with a few of its seeds floating top right of it, all on a blurred green background. Text in the top right reads Blue Jeans Committee. There is additional text in the lower right corner, but too small to read.

You'd think after all that service they'd finally let him eat one.
A skeet from WeRateDogs accompanied by three photos of a blue-eyed dog named Bear, who is gorgeous.

The skeet reads "This is Bear, Australia's most famous koala detection dog. After a decade of service, he's retiring. He located hundreds of injured or displaced koalas after forest fires. We're told his retirement will be filled with rest, cuddles, and maybe a little mischief. 15/10"

Really? Is MS AI moving away from LLMs, then? Co-pilot currently advertising suggesting it can help with accounting, but the terms and conditions say it's an entertainment product that should not be used for anything where accuracy is important. AI boosters are piss car futurists.

A Tweet (sorry) from jatin: "The reason why RAM has become four times more expensive is that a huge amount of RAM that has not yet been produced was purchased with non-existent money to be installed in GPUs that also have not yet been produced, in order to place them in data centers that have not yet been built, powered by infrastructure that may never appear, to satisfy demand that does not actually exist and to obtain profit that is mathematically impossible."

Weirdest use of "alleged" yet. Is NF worried he might sue himself?
Screengrab from the Guardian that reads:

In his report, Greenberg also includes a letter from Farage in which Farage said:

"In relation to my alleged breach of rule 5 of the code of conduct for Members, I accept that I have breached this section of the code and take full responsibility, and I would first of all like to say I am sincerely sorry.

I say:

Oh so someone came up with a prompt strategy that allows LLM users to extract full texts from its training data with a 97% accuracy hahaha, lawsuits to follow.

They [identity censored] say

My British Lit professor could recite so many things word for word. One, the ability to recite with high accuracy technically does not prove storage vs. reconstruction.[sic] Second, so what? Our neural network does that too. Why are squishy brain based neural networks immune to lawsuits.

These Epstein photos are astonishing.
A photograph of a gaudily decorated office, all gold frames, marble and cheap crappy looking ornaments. Never has gold looked so cheap. An elderly, overweight man sits on an upholstered chair. He is wearing a red tie with a small dark diagonal stripe and is gesturing with open palms and splayed fingers. His face is obscured by a black rectangle. In the foreground is a toy plane on a desk. It is Trump in the Oval Office, aha.

Evidence, too, in the not upheld adjudication for Match Bet Bingo, that the age account limit stuff on YouTube will only get you so far.
'Match Bingo had obtained demographic information from 442oons in advance of placing the ad, which showed that over 91% of their audience was 18 or over. All content on the 442oons channel was marked as “Not made for kids” so that the YouTube algorithm would direct the content away from children.'
