Earlier this year, E3G released a big report with the Department of War Studies at Kings College which showed that our dependence on gas is a major national security risk. Cutting heat pumps to fund defence is like not paying for a flu jab so you can buy lemsip. It makes no sense.

If you've got a battery, bank the happy hours until later in the year when there's less generation and you might need to charge them to see you through to the end of the day. Or, force discharge prior to the happy hour then recharge during to earn you a bit more export payment.

Not defending Danny Boyle, but VFX companies are under immense pressure to turn out tons of top quality work for pennies by the studios. It’s been going on for years and it’s only getting worse. Gen AI is being sold to vfx artists as a creative tool, an “enabler” to do more work faster.

Would any of you build a DIY battery? My current battery is a DIY'd 48kWh stack from 314Ah LFP cells. I've had previous experience building batteries so I'm not unafraid to get hands dirty but I get it's not for everyone. It's also likely that the battery will grow to 64kWh very soon.

That's a response from automation, which hasn't been trained on solid brick buildings and/or listed buildings. Doesn't mean it can't be done, just that automation can't give you a guide price. There's a rule of thumb I've seen; divide yearly kWh of gas purchased by 2900 gives you est heat pump size

The UK is now up to 2.1 million pure EV cars on the road. That’s around 430,000,000 UK gallons or 2 billion litres of fossil fuel not being burned in cars each year.

Frustrating that @rory-stewart.bsky.social so very nearly gets the problem with north sea gas. He says "the price of gas is set globally" but then says "why wouldn't we want to produce our own gas" but doesn't realise that it isn't "ours". It's owned by the company with the extraction licence.

Glad you said this. The reason for high electricity pricing in the UK is because gas generation sets the price 90%+ of the time.
