Our ex-chancellor's openly employed by a hostile state (Schröder). An ex-boss of our internal intelligence is being observed by his former employees because of far-right activities. Now we have the ex-head of external intelligence arrested as a spy. And people say we have no sense of humour.

AfD people losing all inhibition about showing who they really are may be what breaks them. "Mourir pour Danzig" may be less of a winning formula than these ghouls seem to thin, even among their sort of clientele.

Or maybe they just put Grandpa on the compost heap along with the bad ochre and the cut grass from behind the hut? Neanderthals put flowers with their dead? Oh, doubtful: it was mice or the wind. No such scepticism with sapiens: they even had beer, they MUST have been aesthetic-minded spiritualists.

So there's a plant in Brazil that does the mechanics of sexual reproduction but in such a strange way that there's no recombination: The offspring are more or less clones of their mother. So, why choose this roundabout way? (Maybe they care about social appearances?)

Can you simply model the evolution of any behaviour, it's exact genetic basis - which is possibly highly complex - being irrelevant? (It does remind me somewhat of a complex rabbit being drawn from a rather intransparent cylinder to be honest. But I know very little about evolutionary biology.)

How well can you model the evolution of complex social traits in a Bayesian model? (Not meant as a snarky question, I really do wonder.) There's hardly a "prone to a single lifestyle but open to a steady relationship if the right indivdual comes along" gene, I suppose. So what is being modeled?
Screenshot of part of the abstract of the study linked in the 1. posting, reading "We found empirical data for 726 species across 1,473 populations: 353 populations were primarily solitary, 250 populations pair living, and 870 populations group living. Notably, 367 species (51%) and 583 populations (40%) exhibited intraspecific variation in social organization. Using a Bayesian phylogenetic framework that incorporates intraspecific variation, we show that the ancestral placental mammal was mainly but not exclusively solitary, displaying intraspecific variation. Pair living was estimated to account for approximately 26% of ancestral social organization."
