Bard is an April Fools Day joke I'm surprised never came to fruition. Warcraft has had such a long history with musical characters. Singing Orcs and Trolls if you click on them enough, Kodo drummers, 10th Level Tauren Chieftain, bonus songs on the actual discs. Why weren't Bards here a decade ago?

Hopefully its community surges! I nabbed it, years ago, and was repulsed by the loot boxes. If I wanted blue pants in Quake 1, I could give myself blue pants. I didn't have to wait and play endless rounds hoping a loot box with blue pants would grace me with its bounty that I'd already paid for.

Why can't they just let Ninja Theory go free like they did Double Fine? Hellblade 1 & 2 were both amazing in their own ways Rare, making Call of Duty now? That makes Microsoft-sense. I have a list of studios that Microsoft purchased over the decades, & then forced them to make games against-type.

My favorite architype is the person clearly out of their depth, rising to the occasion. The convoluted premise of a TV star becoming the real hero, I loved! All those DW 2-parters, where he exhausts himself searching for Gosalyn's grandad, or fighting the Moon men. I confess, I choked up a bit. 🥲💜🦆

Valve's interesting. Counter-Strike was a mod, they HIRED the team. Portal started out in a game jam, HIRED. League of Legends started as a Starcraft mod. Hired. Half-Life had a huge free open modding community. They turn the world into their dev team. I hope VR indie modders will lead the way.

Oh, boy! I actually LOVED this one. The goal was to just survive for 30 minutes. Hopefully, cause enough [PAIN] to the Wet Bandits that they abandon the house before fully looting it, and go to another. Meanwhile, you collect and build gadgets like a tiny MacGyver.

For me, that game was Mass Effect: 1985, or as most people call it, Starflight. I could fly around, visit planets, collect minerals, make money, but the big long mission briefings seemed intimidating to read for 5-year old me, and I never took notes. So the actual main plot was lost on me.

My very very first Zelda game isn't even on here. It was an LCD wristwatch game. There was a grid, you ran to a corner to pick up a boomerang, then ran to another corner to get the Triforce, while avoiding or fighting 1-2 moblins. It was either that or the Nintendo Cereal System, if that counts.

I love this weird little game! It's not often I get to tell myself, "You're just not thinking 4th-dimensionally!" I first saw it on an old Extra Credits episode of "Games You Might Not Have Tried." I wish they'd do another one of those, soon. Then Odd Gentlemen went on to make the new King's Quest.

I haven't loved a city builder since Cities: Skylines 1, and before that, SNES Sim City. I'm psyched! I'm immensely curious why Megaman doesn't have a 12 next to it and why the original Megaman is now able to dash and equip armor parts. What does this mean for Megaman X? Is this the bridge game?

Who would ever say it's not? Wing was my anime gateway! Everyone else was obsessing over DBZ but THIS brought me in! I loved it so much, I learned how to 3D model and built my own Deathscythe! Everyone had so much character and flavor to their design! I wish it had some games retracing the campaign.

There's Vanessa Z. Schneider! I was hoping she'd make the list! I love Capcom most when it gets experimental, Dragon's Dogma, Dark Void, PN03. To me, it felt almost like a 3D Megaman. I initially played it like an action game, and had trouble. But when the rhythm finally clicked, I felt untouchable!
