Yes Tom! Great to see this back on the table in the war cabin

Simon @simon-templar3.bsky.social · 01/09/2026

Last week I popped into the excellent Manx Regiment museum whilst holidaying in the Isle of Man. Interesting little factoid - I was not expecting to find the first British rounds fired in WW2!

Great fun as always. So much enthusiasm for this game from those who try it for the first time and see how easy it is to pick up

This has been my favourite one of the day this year <sigh> if only…

Hobby dropship delivery today. Old skool 2nd Ed 40K codex. @tomjmegan.bsky.social will be upset but I’ll be using this for running Red Corsairs rather than for the boys in blue 😜

#festivetankchallenge A day late on completion but finally finished my Sherman after being away for a few days. Modelled as a Firefly of C-Sqn 6th Armoured Regiment (1st Hussars) of 2nd Canadian Armoured Brigade. Thanks as always to @tomjmegan.bsky.social for the motivation. #wargaming #scalemodels

Back to work today so not as much progress on #festivetankchallenge but still got overall assembly and extra stowage added as per @tomjmegan.bsky.social although I’ve skipped the extra armour and going hatches open. Hopefully painting tomorrow #wargaming #scalemodels

Watching Heroes of Telemark (again!). No matter how many times you see it that scene with Kirk Douglas on the ferry rounding up all the kids near the lifeboat before the bomb goes off is just so tense!

#festivetankchallenge underway with work started on the 1/56 rubicon Firefly VC. Always good fun participating in this each year 😀 #wargaming #scalemodels

Had a smashing weekend helping @joewargamer.bsky.social run his What a Tanker game at Warfare. For those of you interested in logistics this is what Joe’s 15x6 28mm terrain looks like in its packed up state and for storage. it does all fit in one car (just!). #spreadthelard #wargaming

Just started reading this. I am only 100 pages in but it has me hooked already. You can say what you like about GW prices and their game rules and commercial practices but the 40K lore they’ve created and continue to expand through their Black Library is so atmospheric and entertaining.

Douglas Hill’s Last Legionary series got me into reading Sci Fi as a 10 year old. So good. A lone warrior from a destroyed world armed with an indestructible titanium skeleton and accompanied by his trusty alien pterodactyl on a quest for revenge against an evil empire.

Homeward bound from Salute. A quick pitstop at IWM Duxford for a tea break and a stroll around the airfield. The Airborne assault exhibition in the Airspace hangar is a hidden gem and includes the original briefing boards for Op Tonga and Varsity. commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Br...
