Today I have once again discovered people have no sense of sarcasm on Social 😅

Silas|📸 (Pinned Starter Pack for Cosplayers) @silasallaround.bsky.social · 08/01/2025

Hi! More Cosplay photography in 2025 so following this decision, you can book me from today onwards. You can still shoot TFP with me, but I’m limiting this to concepts I’m working on as a producer. There are options to remain accessible for growing Cosplayers and a workshop for beginners.

One thing that's always been odd to me, is the lack of PR within the Cosplay community. I see the sporadic kotaku listicle pass by (here's 10 cosplays spotted at [event]), but there's very few costume breakdowns or press in general. Opinions? I have some assumptions, but curious to what u think!

Ah yes, the "let's do a small scale photoshoot to celebrate Arcane" to "Hi yes, is this Riot Games?" pipeline.

Stupid Riot Games making a stupid series called Arcane, based on a stupid game called League of Legends, making me spend a stupid amount of money on a stupid Skin line and merch 💀

Did I just rewatch Arcane S02e07 frame by frame to set up a creative photoshoot? Why yes. Yes I did. And yes, I pretended like it was the first time. And yes, I got emotional again.

See a tip, share a tip! This one's for Cosplay photography beginners: If you want an easy icebreaker when approaching a Cosplayer, consider getting a little charm for your camera, or a hotshoe cover. If it's relevant to the costumes you want to photograph, draw their attention to it. ezpz

Ever got in an argument with another photographer, telling you that you spend too much time talking to the model instead of taking pictures of them? How do you deal with that?

I ordered takeaway breakfast to save time. Then I subsequently forgot to have it, because I wanted to save time.

Man, moving to a small city from a village is pretty jarring. I don't need to hunt for breakfast anymore, just need to pay someone an exorbitant amount of money to deliver it to my house.

If you're a Cosplayer or Photographer entering through the X-odus and you're still warming up to BlueSky, here's some starter tips: 1. BlueSky is a young platform. Be mindful of your expectations. Teach the algorithm your content preferences while Bluesky's moderation team grows. (More below👇)

It's easy to get caught up in the content creation game if you're a Photographer or Cosplayer. We've seen many success stories where one of us breaks into high levels of popularity by going viral. We doom scroll ourselves into feelings of inadequacy and imposter syndrome.

If you're a brand - take criticism on social head on if it's valuable or pointing out flaws in your business. Too many times I see business managers filter/hide valid criticism. As a SMM/CM, take this data to leadership so they can iterate on the processes. Win tomorrow.
