An individual‐based model to quantify the non‐breeding season impact of wind farms on seabirds
A novel individual-based model to predict the impacts of offshore wind farms on seabirds during the non-breeding season, using long-term tracking data from SEATRACK. We demonstrate the model by simul...

Cuts to NOAA funding threaten our ability to predict and monitor hurricanes and tornadoes—putting lives and communities at risk. But NOAA’s work goes far beyond weather. Guest blogger Dr. David Shiffman shares 10 vital but lesser-known roles NOAA scientists play.

The extent of sea ice has clearly dropped in both the northern and southern hemispheres at the same time. Today, Antarctic ice extent is the fifth-lowest on record for this time of year and continues to decline 📉 ⚒️🧪🌊❄️🥼
Line graph showing the daily sea-ice extent for the Antarctic from 1978 to 2025 February. 2025 is shown in the thick black line to the left, while the previous years of the largest maximum (2014) and smallest minimum (2023) are presented in blue and yellow, respectively. The extent in 2025 has decreased more than normal for a week.
Data source is the OSI SAF sea-ice index v2.2.
