Successful landscape-scale restoration projects need strong partnerships, coordination, planning, and the capacity to put investments into action. Building this readiness on the ground helps ensure that funding can translate into meaningful work across Sierra-Cascade landscapes.

The goal of the Concow Resilience Project is not just to prevent large-scale conversion from forestland to brushland, but to also increase the chance for long-term health & survival of trees in the region by creating an open, oak-pine dominated woodland more adapted to wildfires & climate change.

Nature-based solutions are long-term investments. The benefits of restoring a forest, meadow, or watershed may not be immediately visible. Building climate-resilient landscapes takes sustained effort, continued investment, and a commitment to learning from what works.

A familiar sight in Lassen Volcanic NP, the golden-mantled ground squirrel is a high-elevation mammal found in #forests, rocky areas, & even above the treeline. They forage for seeds, nuts, fungi, plants, and insects, then spend the winter underground in hibernation. #LassenVolcanic #SierraCascade

The Sierra Nevada is home to the world’s largest trees. Giant sequoias naturally grow only on the western slope of California’s Sierra Nevada, where they are found in groves across the southern Sierra. These remarkable trees can grow more than 250 feet tall and live for more than 3,000 years!
