Folks, please be careful out on the roads as the weather changes. That's the THIRD accident I've seen in as many weeks: solo bike, scooter-bike, and now, car-scooter. Everyone was awake and ambos were on their way where necessary, but you can bet that no one looked happy!

An important discovery about Mary Berry’s apple and cinnamon cake is that you can Gladwrap it to its platter, shove it sideways into a bike pannier, and it’ll arrive intact! Yesterday’s #baking was for the animal shelter’s annual open day, btw.

What the bake sale is getting after all your kind suggestions: apple and cinnamon cake from Mary Berry’s Baking Bible. It’s one of her “throw all the ingredients in and mix” recipes. The only tricky bit was layering the sticky mixture and grated apple, but it looks like it’s turned out ok #baking

Thanks, I like the look of how much this makes. Pumpkin purée isn't a standard thing here, but I'm planning to go to the expat shop in Den Haag before Halloween and I bet the American section will have it. Hope the party was fun!

The first Pride Ontzet is great fun! Hope they get the €€€ to do it again next year. Red and white are #Leiden colours and thus a challenge to my wardrobe, but my glitter skirt got compliments. However, even its excellent swish could never compete with drag queen style. :) 🏳️‍🌈 #LeidensOntzet

An American outlet once published an article entitled "10 Reasons Why Dutch Kids Are Happy" and one of the reasons was that their breakfast includes hagelslag (chocolate sprinkles with actual cocoa content). So my scientific conclusion is that it works as a preventative therapy.

for those outside New Zealand: 2 years ago a veiled far-right astroturf org threatened to sue an investigative journalist for a book he was writing about them. He was not writing a book about them, but this incident meant former staff started leaking to him. He used those leaks to write a book.
