So I just finished the latest episode of @kingmakerpod.bsky.social ,and it felt very... Final. But thankfully it finished with a sentence I was hoping for, 'See you when we're back for season four'

Did you freehand it, or did you buy a pattern? I want to make a fox for my BF, since it's his favourite character

Why none of you told me about @kingmakerpod.bsky.social before? One of the best audio dramas I've found so far!

Age-related aginess is my new fav phrase.

Oh yeah, that's the best. I'm taking a handful of meds for breakfast, and then another to fight the reflux they give me 😅It's fun to be an adult!

If @desertskiespodcast.com does that, I'll be happy to over the cost 😅

Gues what audiodrama am I reviewing?

A screenshot of MS Word with the text:
'It’s been a really weird couple of years, right? I bet that all of us, dear Reader, has at least a couple of things that we didn’t have on our bingo card that actually happened. Global shortage of toilet paper for one, or the global pandemic that caused it. Or maybe US government admitting UFO is real. Or any of the wars that broke out. While all of these for me are more in the disappointed but not surprised category, crying and sobbing while listening to a recording of a text from a microwave burrito wrapper was the true surprise of the last year for me.'

No, thank YOU! You have given me, aside from the piece of great, inquisitive SF, also the most beautiful love story I've heard in audio fiction, so all the thanks to you.

When they did that in the credits for 'Unwell' it really did something to me lol

010

The Shoutbox Blog @shoutbox.blog · 12/01/2024

Red Valley is fenomenal, but I remember getting a tiniest bit confused in the S1 with the plot 😅

WAIT, YOU'RE PLAYING WILDER I MTO?!

BTW, @seanthomason.bsky.social , did I mention that this profile (and the blog it links to) is dedicated to this exact question?

110

The Shoutbox Blog @shoutbox.blog · 12/01/2024

Ah, and you mentioned horror? In my opinion you won't find better (with all due respect to all the others!) than 'Wake of Corrosion', it's a slow burning horror about two brothers who go camping to rebuild their bond and get a digital detox, but return to a collapse of not only society but reality

4. Or if you want to go even deeper into SF, you definitely have to see 'Marsfall', which aside from being really well written cosmic horror on par with Alien, also tackles questions about humanity, AI, and what makes a person, well, a person. And has soldiers in space, did I mention that already?

The Shoutbox Blog @shoutbox.blog · 12/01/2024

3. Or maybe a visit to the future? Check out 'Moonbase Theta Out', which is not only a great take on dystopian future, and in later seasons a thrilling action adventure, but also a great piece of classic sci-fi trying to ask 'what if' questions about not-so-far earth and it's society.

2. Take a look at "Mockery Manor", a little lighter, but still juicy horror/criminal adventure. It's like Scooby Door for grown-ups mixed with Agatha Christie and maybe a dash of Dirk Gently, first two seasons are brilliant, both in writing and acting, also I have a non-spoiler review on my blog.

1. Check out 'Unwell, a Midwestern Gothic Mystery', one of my favourite audio dramas ever; Midwestern Twin Peaks where mysterious events cross with family drama, secrets from the Past and sorrowful story about the passing of time and things that always will be beyond our control. Or?

WAS ANY OF YOU PLANNING TO TELL ME ABOUT THE NEW SEASON OF BIRDS OF EMPIRE OR WAS I SUPPOSED TO FIGURE IT OUT ON MY OWN?! Probably my most awaited audio drama since the finale of Unwell...

Honestly, unless some very elaborate patterns, you still work your yar with one needle, the other just holds the rest of it.

While I absolutely love Alba Salix, and will revisit it at least once, it's the spin-off, The Axe and Crown, that really stole my heart!
