Generative AI is for losers. It’s so embarrassing to watch people debase real artists, the environment, and themselves for a sloppy, rip-off of a party trick.

You’re going to get a lot of rejections and agents will ignore your emails and there will be naysayers around every corner and you’ll get 1-star reviews that are attacks instead of reviews. None of that matters. Keep going. Stay focused. Put in the work. Don’t quit. Go write.

random tuesday afternoon tidbit: citation isn't just about looking backward, doing your diligence, and giving proper credit. it's about bringing people -- readers, your audience -- in, bringing mutual interests to the fore. It says YOU cited one are or at least ought to be a reader of this book.

Yes. I am right. I am seeing how Chat GPT is ruining students critical thinking and writing skills in real time. It is not the future. It is a tool designed to render the populace helpless, to make people doubt their innate intelligence, and to foster overreliance on technology.

Learning that a book proposal requires authenticity. I have tried every angle in the world to draw to the monograph but realizing how powerful the original story is. Freewriting my project description before editing and cutting it down to 1500-2000 words. I miss writing! ✍🏼

Group discussions seem to be the way to go this semester. I had two back-to-back classes, and everyone enjoyed it, and I got great feedback from students as we talked about themes of forgiveness and justice, and also, about story telling, short stories, and film adaptation of Manto’s stories. 🙂

My first tweet on Twitter was in 2010. I was in graduate school, starry eyed, and didn’t know who I was. 14 years later, I finally have a voice and am slowly learning how to advocate for myself and others. So happy to have a fresh and new start here!
