I just read Run on Your New Legs, a fun manga that becomes a lot more interesting once COVID happens and its impacts on youth sports and Para athletics becomes a driving part of the story. It's a shame how it's still novel for COVID to even be acknowledged in fiction, let alone a disruptive force

I'm also very sad about that Double Fine union piece because I literally just spent the last month watching Psychodyssey and playing Psychonauts 1+2, free from Microsoft, and I really respect the craft of the artists at that studio.

Organizers need to be ready to counter that mentality, but all of us also need to challenge it in our daily lives. Having a 1:1 with your CEO is manipulative because you have no power. Having a 1:1 with your colleague can be empowering because you're building a relationship, not an FAQ

Because union busters can't legally lie about unions, they will literally ask scary questions in a group to make everyone wonder, "wait, CAN that happen? Is THAT how it works?", scaring workers & putting the pressure on organizers to respond to absurd suggestions. (Just like every right wing grift)

I will say that I'm glad my workplace didn't have a big slack culture when we went public. As the article notes, it's unsafe to have these conversations on company-controlled platforms just in terms of retaliation, but also, it's just really difficult to have a good faith discussion in a group chat.

Reading what happened when their union campaign went public made my blood run cold. The organizing committee ran a by-the-book campaign, and lack of union education among ineligibles made very normal things seem shady while anti-union agitators got away with murder.
