Playing around with the Feyrin avatar base today, was able to color it like my Novabeast and I quite like how it's turning out. Maybe an alt avatar soon?? Still need to clean up in blender a bit to get the polycount down, it's fairly high out of the box.

I joined the tail end of #Ink_Party this morning and got to say hello to @sheenabaobab.bsky.social and @hayatikaze.com. Ink Party is a JP VRC social event with a strict (and more formal) "ink" dress code, held in a very pretty world. Participants look like moving silhouettes.

Years ago I bought this used copy of The C Programming Language (K&R) that had been doodled in. So if I ever flip through for reference (like today) there's a chance I'm met by the enigmatic gazes of the File Access Triplets. I hope the original programmer-artist is doing well wherever they are! 🎨

Just finished swapping in all Eldraine basic lands for Ellivere; laying them out nicely is soooo satisfying. I am convinced at this point my MTG decks are (healthy??) outlets for my obsession with matching and organization as much as they are meant for playing the actual game. 😅

Coincidentally, it looks like I just hit the 1000 hour mark in VRC! As they say, I've now "finished the tutorial." 🎊🤭 Initially I had a tiny pang of shame seeing that play time number, but that's such a silly feeling. It's a hobby I enjoy greatly, and thus I make time for it; simple as that.

More progress on my #Novabeast! Bought some assets: a buffalo plaid flannel shirt (one of my favorite real shirts I own), new hair, glasses, and chest fur. I made a new blendshape for the chest fur so that it can flow naturally with the shirt on or off. 😊

I couldn't resist! Time to cook up a #Novabeast. 😅 Took a first stab at recoloring with my favorite palette; it needs plenty of refinement but I'm pretty excited to work more on it. The PSD files are wicked easy to work with, and I'm very grateful for that 🙏

This past weekend I started accessorizing, and I thought "wouldn't it be perfect if there was a cut-off fishing hook 'earring'"? So I made one! I think it's fun, and suits Chalo's aquatic aspects 🦈 でも、シャロくんを釣らないでください！🎣🚫

I took this at the end of "Silky Blue," a lovely live jazz and DJ event hosted by @silkroadsounds.bsky.social. 🎶 I really do like the new VRC print camera. The captions give pictures self-contained context, making them feel like a more complete memory. (I'm also biased: I own two Polaroid cameras.)

Tonight was Taiko Takibi Dance Night! One of my favorite VRC events. The warm bonfire glow, vibrant and entrancing percussion, dozens of people moving to the rhythms; it's the kind of atmosphere I really enjoy. #TTD_VRC

Now with moving hair! A little collider means the bangs rest nicely atop the glasses as well. Almost ready to upload a V1.0, just need to make my expression menu and animator. Then the fun part: picking out outfits on booth. 🛍️🛒 (Though usually followed by: optimizing outfits from booth.) 😅

Video test? Started playing around in-client tonight. Chalo comes with animator replacements for default sit/stand/etc. (even a custom blink), but since I use FBT most of that I won't need. Lots of fun expressions though which I certainly will keep in.
