pigment load still needs tweaking but PBk26 dispersion is behaving better than expected. Dispersion is maybe 40-60% pigment. brush out is maybe somewhere between 1–2:5 dispersion : binder base (which is about 1:8 solids : water). I really want that void-like black mass tone on one wet-on-dry pass

morning brushouts: pigment black 30 and pigment yellow 216. Not really happy with my PBk30, it’s so granulating and not easy to work. PY216 came out great but I’m underwhelmed by the color. Knew this black was a tricky one which is why I did it first in case I botched anything

Might throw the PY 216 in the tumbler for transparency. This swatch stolen from Jane Bundell is accurate to the pigment I’m working from, these paint threads can be boring without pictures! PY 216 can also be less orange, this version is named after the hokkaido pumpkin

in paint making news I am dispersing some pigment yellow 216 in the bathroom. very red-orange of a yellow. likely more opaque than I like in paints but a gorgeous orange yellow nonetheless
