as someone who plays a lot of limited magic, draft is the truest way to feel the pain inherent to a bad set- having to pick your bad cards and, even worse, getting elated at the sight of incredibly mid cards are much more powerful than the run-of-the-mill bad beats of sealed.

I second the Dark Ritual and the Counterspell as the person fortunate enough to have them in my cube; I was going to post them myself here when I got home today but am glad to be beaten to the punch by their immensely talented creator! :)

I very much enjoy that IOI solved the problem of making difficult combat challenges for a one tapping badass with a bunch of cool gadgets, and they did so by making all the guns have 5 bullets

as a painful companion piece to this feeling, I was looking through my old steam market transactions for fun and discovered this tragedy to much horror and despair. for the uninitiated, some of these normal stickers easily push a thousand dollars and the LDLC holo is absurdly $20k+ now.

Soulcatchers' Aerie is a great old card for bird decks, Bloomburrow has a lot of great bird themed cards in addition to Maha (Perch Protection, Salvation Swan, Jackdaw Savior, Murmuration, also would be funny to sneak in Zoraline as a honorary bird), and Aerial Extortionist is a great midgame play.

I was also shocked because I also could only think of how much it absolutely cleared the Martian the whole time before I learned after that it was written by the same author- I wonder how much of that is the author honing his craft, Lord+Miller and co.'s influence, or a mix of both?

Also, here's some fantastic alters I picked up from @finncapashen.bsky.social, @golgarigalsplashes.bsky.social, and @keithulhucards.bsky.social! (2/2)

I'm a bit more of a lurker on bluesky, but I wanted to post that I had a superb time at @shoebox.gg even though I couldn't make it in today due to the weather, and especially enjoyed meeting artists and browsing their wares. With that in mind, I would absolutely love to run it back next year! (1/2)

it's definitely somewhat there in the subtext with the titular machine literally being fed books for its operation, but that analogy starts to fall apart later on in the game.

one of the best openings of the series, also for one of the best arcs of the series

There's a narrative but it's broken up very piecemeal across the entire game including a lot of content that you're only going to get to well after rolling credits. Without spoilers, some of the deep lore would be very up your alley but it can take a lot of roguelike playing to get there.

If it's any consolation, I reached the credits yesterday and I still didn't fully get what was going on nor did I get the chance to solve multiple big preceding puzzles- I think the game would benefit greatly from a journal system like Outer Wilds's and some more ways to control RNG.

One of the downsides I've had with its design choices is that I can't solve a good number of puzzles even close to when I want to- I reached credits before I could get the second and fourth permanent unlockables shown on the inventory screen. It's great but frustratingly slow at times.

I'm glad there's other warriors out there for building nothing out of something, it's so fucking good but doesn't get the same attention as the other albums from that time period

neon white is so good that I need to get around to replaying it sometime; also, if you're on a 3D platformer kick, I'd recommend the recent games Lorn's Lure and I Am Your Beast, which are both great for very different reasons.
