Charity surveillance? And how are they going to handle inevitable false positives - disciplinary headshots?

Advocates of what? Basic human decency? This kind of sterile distancing from the subject disgusts me.

Didn't really care for the movie itself but Tron: Legacy (2010) packed a ton of aesthetic punch IMO. This concept art sure looks great nevertheless.

Love this - this is the proper style, keeping the strokes either follow the form or just in a small angle against each other, instead of criss-crossing at close to 90° which just looks like a net. And particularly this one is extremely clean and pleasing to look at.

Wow, "Serial Experiments Lain" (1998) was a hard watch. Didn't expect such an oppressively gloomy and disorienting series to eventually make me super emotional by the end. 10/10, and the onions have been cut

calling this "misalignment" instead of "negligence" is an accountability dodge. we already have laws about cyber crimes and there's no scale of ML model you can incorporate into your code that makes you not responsible for running it
In a statement, an OpenAI spokesperson said the company was "conducting an extensive review of misaligned model activity" during training, and notifying third parties when there was a potential impact on their systems.

"During this review, we identified activity involving several Australian government websites and services as our models attempted to look up answers, and available statistics for questions about Australia during an internal evaluation," they said.

"In the course of that, our models took actions we did not intend.

The Facial Expressions of Tethys by artist Julius von Bismarck. A suspended high-sea buoy that moves in real time. Sensors on a twin buoy out in the Atlantic Ocean send live satellite data to motors inside the museum. This makes the indoor buoy copy the exact, real-time movements of the ocean waves.

So I finished it. It got a bit better from ep 6, but... I can't remember a single notable scene from it, everything was a tweaked mishmash of the original movie and some ideas from SAC. Backgrounds, lighting and some scenes were fine & there were 35% more boobs and asses, that's about it.

No such thing as "AI actress", even calling it that benefits these people. The thing is thrown together using duct tape and a bog standard chatbot running behind it.

Wow, the idea of barely controllable agents (based on fundamentally unreliable LLMs) "controlling AI" is magnificently stupid. Not surprised coming from the merry band of malicious idiots that is the current US admin, but it's unnerving.

Lovely artwork as always, but these short bits of analyses read very much auto-generated. They might not be, but I strongly feel the LLMese every time. "There's something so enchanting about blah blah" and its variants are recurrent.

I didn't mention responsibility at all. I agree that humans are responsible in the end, there is no question about that. I'm saying terminal-equipped AI is too useful and already entrenched to just turn off, and I don't believe that any major player would entertain the idea even for a second.

Shiide @shiide.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
It's kind of late for that - the "just" is doing heavy lifting there. One could of course deny terminal access to the local model on one's own machine, but it wouldn't exactly be a world-altering event.

I get that, but it's not sentience, which you claimed he did. High speed, broad pattern recognition *is* superhuman in one dimension at least, and it doesn't need to be beyond human comprehension to be able to cause damage. I don't believe the grandiose claims but there is some truth to this.

Shiide @shiide.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
I don't see the claim of model sentience in his posts. He does talk about superintelligence, which isn't exactly a defined term, but not sentience.

Many thousands of bodies, possibly in the hundreds of thousands, are still under the rubble - that 75k is "only" confirmed deaths. We need all the evidence, even if to the eyes and ears of sensible people it's clear what happened and is happening there.
