Someone at Bic Camera Yurakucho must be a fan of the Onimusha series. First time seeing past titles on display.

A magazine celebrating Resident Evil / Biohazard 30th anniversay is out in Japan. It is mostly series’ history and interviews. There is a double page about (Code:) Veronica. Maybe those visuals aren’t new but I don’t recall seeing them before. I like how they aged Claire.

Interesting to see that games cartridge size held meaning back in the days in Japanese magazines. The bigger the cart, the higher quality and content one could expect: more beautiful the sprites, more animations, levels, music tracks and so on.

I quite like how Nintendo updated the character design from Switch Sports to Resort. The Level 5-ish style is totally talking to me. This would do for a great second coming of the Mii, thus paving the way for the return of Street Pass. 😇

Browsing Japanese auction sites and stumbling upon stuff is my form of doom scrolling. I wouldn't know what to do with those so I hardly buy anything, but just getting to see those is great. Here, a box of Shinobi carts for the Master System / Mark III.

Yesterday was Beep’s store in Akihabara last day in its current location. While it’s just a move, it feels like the end of an era with one of the most peculiar game shops in Akiba. Looking forward to their new place.

For Golden Week I am staying in an old house in Aichi prefecture. It has a well furnished book shelf. As I was browsing it, my eyes stopped on this book by Shigesato Itoi. While unrelated to Mother / Earthbound, look who shows up a few pages in. Coincidence? I don’t think so.

Digging some more and apparently it's a particularly old fishing game series. Capcom doesn't own the IP. Not even sure they developed that one title? Anyway. Same energy.

Listening to some OG Xbox playlists made me realise that I knew only the most popular titles. A Capcom fishing game!? What? Different name and cover between the west and Japan. Put a manga/anime style girl on the western cover, of course. Capcom only made that one episode?!

Dragon Quest creator, Yuji Horii’s biographical manga is now out in Japan. This collection aims to be educational and therefore is mostly aimed at kids. It covers a wide range of historical figures. Here the book sits next to Masahiro Sakurai, Mozart or even Martin Luther King.
