Axel's one of the best writers at ZA/UM and they have the best writers in the industry. He's also a really cool guy. Whichever team snags him will be really lucky.

Your streams, and thoughts on ZP here and beyond, have been fucking fantastic. I'm so glad the game hit you (and others) as it did. Thanks for batting for us. (And yeah, 100% agreed on the long tail. Which: quite bittersweet, given context.)

Appreciate you. But you know, and without getting too deep in the weeds: I fundamentally don't think it was an audience problem.

Axel is an incredible, brilliant writer and a person that I am honored to call one of my best friends. They make any place better to be, and they will make any story 10x funnier, smarter, and more heartbreaking. Also, great beard. Really can’t undersell the beard.

I'm one of the folks affected. *Many* on the list are gifted; their work was crucial to the weird little miracle that is ZP. Please, consider hiring them. Dust is still settling on my end, but my inbox is open.

there's a touch more cynicism to it all than elysium, i think. both feel clearly written by jaded communists, but disco still contains a kernel of hope. zero parades embodies the winter cold of its gray spy setting, because once it's all over it doesn't feel like you accomplished much at all

Love the weird, opaque systems. Event slots during combat? Transferring ethers (aka spells) between characters? Evolving skills, without any clear idea toward what? 'Absorbing' properties from accessories? Yeah, fuck me right up. Get *less* legible, if anything.

Army of Shadows is incredible. While it's an adaptation, I can only assume the heart of it comes from Melville's time in the French resistance. Highly recommend Le Cercle Rouge, too. Crime rather than espionage, but like most of Melville's films, it's astoundingly good.

When it wasn't plastic chairs, it was the balcony, or the rooftops. Direct view of Fresnes prison. Early 2000s, this Italian (maybe Corsican?) mobster broke out of there--rocket launchers and all. There were cheers around the neighborhood.

A building block in Fresnes, one of South Paris' quote-unquote 'no-go zones'.
