They are not used to this in October. Neither are we in Arizona tbh, but it’s not as much of a change.

There is no truth to the rumor that Dr. McMillan Cottom and her spouse's backyard look anything like this. (This house in Prescott is Simon & I chilled after the spring semester. The truly gigantic boulder in the yard has only a portion of it appearing in the corner of the photo.)

Yesterday, someone asked the crowd sheltering during a thunderstorm how looking at <waves> all this made them feel. I said, "Young." Today, I wanted to recapture that feeling and purchased Emily Wilson's translation of The Odyssey.

My fellow historian of ed Crystal Sanders won the outstanding book award from the Association for the Study of Higher Education, and is having a fireside chat on April 27. Registration: www.ashe.ws/events/oba-2...
Outstanding Book Award Fireside Chat

Monday, April 27, 2026
9:00am-10:00am Pacific

The ASHE Outstanding Book Award recognizes a book that makes a significant contribution to the study of higher education. The award is open to any book published within the last year that advances theories, knowledge, practices, pedagogies, and/or policies in the field of higher education.

In this fireside chat, 2025 ASHE Outstanding Book Award recipient Crystal R. Sanders discusses "A Forgotten Migration." Her work explores Black southerners’ pursuit of graduate education under segregation, the state-sponsored out-of-state scholarships used to maintain “separate but equal,” and the enduring debt owed to historically Black colleges and universities today.

What if Trump decided to start criticizing Pope Leo for something he's actually vulnerable on, at least for those of us who understand what the One True Pizza is.
Fake Truth Social post from Trump: Pope Leo is WEAK on Pizza, and terrible for Caper Bagels. He talks about "pear" of the Trump Administration, but doesn't mention the PEAR that the Catholic Church, and all other Christian Organizations, had during COVID when they were making priests, ministers, and everybody else compete in a hot-dog-eating contest, for holding Church Services, even when going outside, and being ten and even twenty years apart. I didn't vote for a Pope who thinks it's OK for Iran to have a Nowruz. I didn't vote for a Pope who thinks it's terrible that America attacked Venezuela, a Country that was sending massive

Ad for e-bike: "Most e-bikes feel bulky. The [redacted] doesn't....Sherman: An e-bike will definitely feel bulky if you eat it all at one meal. You will NOT feel well if you try that. I believe the usual recommendation is to cure it for a few weeks in an old-fashioned smokehouse, then use it to flavor your meals over 6-8 weeks.
