lol cid outside talbor chainsmoking and clive asks what's wrong. cid says he feels sorry for jote, is all - clearly deep in love with a man who doesn't recognise it, and she is no longer of much use to him. and clive is stunned, not having realised jote's love for his brother

and clive and cid referring to each other as their husband is divine. cid thrilled to ask for a room in an inn, and to order an early breakfast for himself and his husband. clive picking up tobacco at a market, asking for the cherry cloves - his husband's favourite.

byron warms up to cid, in time - once he's seen the earnest heart of him & how far cid will go to keep clive safe & happy, to keep their home bouyant. but there's always a little grudge. a little thought that clive should have come home, first. jealousy. an a hefty axe waiting

sharing a modest meal & cid makes an uncouth comment that makes clive laugh. cid smiles & rubs his thigh under the table. byron is Unimpressed to say the least. this man, this outlaw, keeping his nephew away from his rightful home. and jill simply sits sipping her tea. dreadful.

i love thinking about cidclive (generally) with uncle byron. when he arrives at the hideaway & finds that his boy is married. has been for years! with a child!!! it's unthinkable. then a man almost his age covered in engine grease sticks out his grubby hand for byron. terrible.

torgal guards his bed & sleeps at his feet. days pass & clive grows no stronger but the faint flicker of light remains in his eyes. some ask if they should come & say goodbye, but clive clings to jill's hand & his temple is warm when cid kisses it. he'll pull through. they hope

can't remember if i've already posted about this but i'm thinking of a very unwell & amnesiac clive being recovered from the beach and, trying to comfort him, cid & jill bring him to mysidia for rest - if he dies, at least it's in comfort. cid cooks for him. jill reads to him
