Damnit Tom, I’m just getting into Starfield and now I want to play Xcom again…where will I find the time? You have to understand your influence has consequences.

I love FDR, and think he did wonderful things for the country, and the west. But he certainly expanded the executive, and I cannot support an overly powerful executive branch. No matter how justified I found Roosevelt to be in hindsight.

it's time for journos to start asking Johnson meta questions "Speaker, on 5 occasions last week you said 'I haven't seen it' when asked about news events w/big implications for public policy. Do you ever read the news, and do you agree it's problematic for the Speaker to be so woefully uninformed?"

My state allowed me to vote when I was 17 in the primary because I’d be 18 by the general election. My candidates didn’t win, but I’ve shown up for every ballot since. Even done some local volunteer work from time to time. Think you have me beat by working for a state rep

The notion that crime and the economy were so bad 2023-24 that Americans reacting to objective personal material conditions had to do a fascism does not hold water. If material, why would it be disproportionately white? Do you think nonwhite people don't experience crime or economic challenges?

Ok so that’s a lie. Frankly I trust the officers more than the enlisted, but I think it’d be tough for the majority of the military to turn their guns on the people.

Only the military remains outside Trump’s grip. Despite the firing of several top officers—and his threat to fire more—the U.S. armed forces are still led by generals and admirals whose oath is to the Constitution, not the president. But for how long? www.theatlantic.com/newsletters/...

It was worth fighting for rights then, just as it is today. And people of color have a long history of standing up to oppressors, I think they’re tougher and much more resilient than the Stancil haters suggest. Every one of us should be using the 60s SCLC playbook right now
