I endorse the 2026 Pedal on Parliament manifesto, notably: SAFETY: Advanced Stop Lines (aka bike boxes) exist at junctions across Scotland. Drivers edge into them before lights change. Heavy vehicles stop across them entirely. Gone is the protected space and head start a cyclist needs to stay safe.

Leaving aside the fact that the person (not an autonomous 'bin lorry') who killed Thomas received only 1 year ban from driving, can we ask why we need to wait for a child to die before road improvements are fast-tracked? Have councillors deciding on @blackfordsaferoutes.co.uk heard of Thomas Wong?

In January 2023, 22-year-old cyclist Emma Burke Newman was killed exiting Glasgow's George V Bridge when a lorry driver making a left turn struck her as she pulled out of the bike box. Yesterday I visited the newly redesigned junction. This change didn't happen by accident. 🧵

There is a bouquet of sunflowers tied to the bike.A left turning bike lane showing concrete separation from motor trafficAn advanced stop line (bike box) on a one-way street showing three lanes of traffic stopped well behind the line. It's a sunny day with clear blue skiesA pedestrian and cycle crossing signal showing green for safe crossing.
