Having a great time studying fossil lower-crustal earthquakes, mylonites, and lower-crustal processes in Lofoten. This time with some extra excitement. We are joined by a camera team that produces short videos about the CONTINENT project lead by Luca Menegon @ UiO. Very interesting experience! 🧪⚒️

This is a map showing the orientation of diopside in a deformed symplectite. This used to be an omphacite, which tells us that the rock used to be at very high pressure (great depth). ⚒️🧪 If you want to read more about how such symplectites nucleate and deform: link.springer.com/article/10.1...

Elsevier tonight has decided to ban authors from suggesting reviewers. I told them this is stupid. Yes, need to avoid conflicted reviewers, and editors should be cautious, but suggestions are helpful. When you send 20-30 invites to get 2 reviews, seeing names points you in the right direction.

Top left is a microtomography volume of a pseudotachylyte (PST) and the adjacent damage zone. Porosity is concentrated in the PST, while the damage zone is efficiently healed. Highwr amounts of porosity is around garnet due to densification during garnet recrystallization growth.
