Another classic, not sure if I've already posted this one here.

The image is a six panel black and white comic.

I think a lot of people are on pins and needles about this arc and wants it to PROVE something for Sarada, which means they're overanalyzing every little thing to prove it's not doing the "right" thing.

At the end of the day, a story is a story and it needs to do things to get the plot from point a to point b. Hopefully, those are elegant and well-written things, but we can't put the constraints of unimpeachable actions on characters. Otherwise, nothing would ever happen.

Or maybe she made a split-second decision to see a mission through, which is what shinobi do. The general point, though, is that Sarada NOT going with Code would just have led to... what? More talk in Konoha? And that'd be shitty for the story's pacing and progress.

Does losing Boruto's symbols negate his plan to have her stealthily leave them in the hideout as means of accessing it at later date? Maybe? But Boruto has more symbols he can drop once he gets there! Or maybe that's not Sarada's reason for wanting to be taken there!

I think fans are too afraid of their favorite characters getting criticized, generally by bad-faith posters on the internet, that they want to protect them from the discourse by always having them do the MOST right thing, but 1. That's not how stories get written 2. That's not how people act either

I know those conversations haven't really reached this place, and I'm kind of content with that, but overanalyzing Sarada's actions when she was kidnapped by Code and chose to rip out her earring rather than fight him misses the point that the story just needs to happen!

Like, yes, it should be logically consistent with the character's personality, but real humans also make incongruous decisions that affect the course of their lives.

One of the biggest downsides to this era of judging characters as external from tiger stories they're in is that actions to move the plot along get ripped apart and analyzed to death instead of realizing the author just needed a thing to happen.

It's funny being a literature nerd and seeing some unable to accept that an entity can be narratively identifiable and deliberately simple in its presentation while still serving its purpose to the story. Not everything needs individual characterization when it can just follow instinct or directive.
