My favorite is when I see a student or teacher stop in the hall and take a quick moment to read one of the infographics. It’s just a few seconds of their time but for a moment, they are thinking about chemistry related to real world situations!

You are very welcome! Teaching from a three dimensional perspective can be demanding. I am certainly no expert but know enough to be dangerous. My students are much more engaged and invested in what we learn. I have a long was to go, especially with assessment writing!

This storyline introduces chemical equations and reactions, balancing and different types of chemical reactions. It also is a launching point for redox and electrochemistry. We circle back to this in the future with stoichiometry. NYSSLS has a specific Redox PE in HS-PS1-12.

When steel wool combusts the mass increases. Ss do not expect that! Some are familiar with steel wool as either a fire starter, to remove rust on metal or steel wool photography. They take an initial mass, use a 9 volt battery and/or Bunsen burner to ignite it and then mass afterwards.
