UK water companies made £340m by pouring billions of litres of industrial/commercial wastewater into sewage treatment works. Treatment works are not designed to remove most chemicals, leaving pollutants to pass into rivers, seas and farmland. Investment neglected. Practices are mostly unregulated.

Drive frequently on Motorways nearby and it’s often obvious that pollution is not controlled, disgusting sulphur compound odor mixed with astringent and emission at times way browner than permitted NOX level. Feel so sorry for those living down wind.
