Once again: this was not disclosed in the study as a limitation! It’s not just these 13 ppl that died and whose numbers were presented later a site — literally every attendance event linked to a health number should now be in question. The data are worthless, totally undermined. 10/

Action request: supervised consumption site clients and mortality. Data: february 21, 2024, due date: february 22, 2024. Requested by Ministry of mental health and addiction. Prepared by Alberta health services provincial addiction and mental health. Authors of the document reveal that of 211 deaths tracked by the study, 13 of them had a date of death that preceded the most recent visit to a supervised consumption site, and these were "removed from the analysis."

This means the entire dataset relying on personal health # can’t be trusted, bc there’s no way to verify if someone used consumption sites. Maybe they gave their # to someone who did, or maybe they died after using someone else’s to attend a site. Impossible to know which - for any situation! 9/

If it’s not clear: the study used personal health numbers to link people’s attendance at supervised consumption sites to adverse (death, EMS, hospitalization) or beneficial (opioid agonist treatment) outcomes. But the authors knew that people’s numbers were showing up at sites AFTER they died. 8/
