These days I think of myself as having two bodies, and I feel better when I focus on what my healthy, strong body can do than when I dwell on what my “broken” body can’t. (We are not broken!)

I love Bright Archive by Sarah Minor. I still remember where I was when I read the essay Foul Chutes, which opens in my hometown of Rockford, Illinois and is shaped like the Mississippi River. How strange essays can be, I thought, and perhaps the stranger the better. #booksky 📚💙 #sarahminor #essays

First read Sempre Susan in 2018 and, though it’s a memoir, it completely changed how I write fiction. Falls into my favorite sub-genre of memoir: memoirs of other people. #sigridnunez #sempresusan #susansontag #memoir #booksky 📚💙

This is still my advice: Become a writer anyway. Fuck it, do it, it won't save you, but it's still a beautiful dream to write novels and short stories and poems and mingle with other dreamers and make art and laugh in the face of death. And writing is constant death. Live más.
