A week ago, @nature.com published a very special issue on reliable research in the social and behavioral sciences. It features four papers that look at reproducibility, robustness and replicability and represents an amazing amount of work. Check it out here: www.nature.com/immersive/d4...

I am beyond excited to announce that ggplot2 4.0.0 has just landed on CRAN. It's not every day we have a new major #ggplot2 release but it is a fitting 18 year birthday present for the package. Get an overview of the release in this blog post and be on the lookout for more in-depth posts #rstats

Thanks @chelseakisil.bsky.social, totally agree! Mindfulness is such a key piece of the puzzle. Excited to see how future research from our group and the field at large might help bridge the gap between the attention economy and meaningful ways to refocus and reengage students.

I've already had two federal grants terminated and face a 33% pay cut due to future terminations. It's painful, but not as painful as the conversations I'm having every day with brilliant trainees in graduate school and postdoctoral positions who see little future for themselves in US science.

Are you tempted to orthogonalize the regressors in your fMRI model? @jeanette-mumford.bsky.social tells you why this is almost never a good idea, and is likely to wreck the interpretation of your model. mumfordbrainstats.tumblr.com/post/1337933...

If I had a dollar for every time I read a paper purporting to have repaired a multicollinearity issue by orthogonalizing regressors...  Unfortunately, once collinearity is there and the data have been...

The response time paradox in functional magnetic resonance imaging analyses - Nature Human Behaviour
Mumford et al. examine how response time differences can lead to confounds in functional MRI analyses, and they propose a new time-series model to account for response time effects.
