I was 2 years old when the Bears won that Super Bowl, and 9 when Ditka was fired. His coaching peak was largely before my time w/sports watching. I'll always just remember Ditka as the juice box guy in Kicking & Screaming, though I do love the Bill Swerski's Superfans SNL sketches.

It should be treated like a live ball that already hit the ground (or wall). But the ground rules in Milwaukee do clearly state that they can catch it for an out, so umps made the right call. I just don't think those ground rules are very good, and certainly don't feel like common sense.

Right...I'm fine with it being a live ball, but the play tonight, it was just ruled a fly out. The ball hit the roof, and then the outfielder caught it for an out. That shouldn't be an out IMO.

I think common sense says if it hits *something* other than a fielder, the outfielder shouldn't be able to catch it as a fly out, but the Milwaukee field ground rules say otherwise. Hitting the roof shouldn't be any different than hitting the ground or the wall IMO.
