6 laser treatments down. Hopefully only a few more to go on my face.

Weary but still smiling, icing the side of my face while I lay in bed.

They finally added my favorite spirit, so now my scores are gonna be silly for a while. I should start making videos again...

You're too late, fortune cookie. Someone already convinced me to try estrogen using this exact logic, like, 10 1/2 months ago.

A couple of fingers with longish unpainted nails hold a slip of paper from a fortune cookie. It reads "Don't wait. The time will never be just right."

Can you believe I just get to look like this all the time now?

Mirror selfie of me, a woman with long graying hair and big blue eyes. I have blue eyeliner and red lipstick on. I am wearing a dark purple top with floral embroidery, a lighter purple skirt, a macrame purse and a sun hat.

Anyway, it's abandonware now, so I used DOSBox and installed it on my Steam Deck so I could finally use the custom portrait I always wanted to use.

We made it really far today! Armor sets are almost fully upgraded (just need a bear trophy for Mimi) and we have a working portal system. Also, we have a giant pit that Mimi mined all the copper out of for luring bears into. 😅

Valheim 1.0 weekend! My wife made us a whole bunch of tasty food so we can pay all weekend without stopping for food prep. We started a new save file last night and made a little progress.

Guess what came in the mail today! Thank you so much @emoria.bsky.social. 💜 Looking forward to finally reading the print version of my favorite transgender novel.

It's funny how I never lived in any of the marked cities, but I grew up north of there and spent most of my adult life south of there, so my dialect seems to be somewhere in the middle.

Hobby night! Finished painting Angel and got a good portion of the way through Archangel. Will probably finish him tomorrow.

It's really hot out, so it's a loose silk top and messy bun night. ☺️

Selfie of me wearing a silk brown caftan. Most of my gray hair is back in a messy bun, but I've left a couple inches in the front out to hang loose. My lips (with red lipstick) are smirking. I also have blue eyeliner above my big blue eyes.

Same overall look as the last photo, but now my eyebrows are raised and my lids lower, my smile less pronounced.

People think of Sylveon and Hatterene as the trans Pokémon because of the colors and the vibes and stuff (and they are) BUT... Togepi literally sits in a broken eggshell waiting for someone to be kind enough that it feels safe to come out, and if that isn't the most relatable shit...

Just realized I never posted these here. I finally figured out recently how to get good close-up shots of my eyes. I've already really loved how pretty my eyes are, and now I finally have the confidence to use eyeliner and mascara to draw even more attention to them. 💜

My wife wishes to make the following correction.

Same chart as quoted post, but now with colored dots in similar places. The green dot is closer to the sword and closer to the skull, but still in the same quadrant.

I think this is about right, I'll have to check with her when she wakes up.

Don't you hate it when you're out with your new friend and people keep clocking... your necromantic robes? 🤣

Once in town, they made their way to the Tavern. Xeron's Necromantic robes caught a few people off guard, but he ignored the strange looks, being more silent then ever. A few people thought to protest his presence, but most of them also knew Linalia, and decided that if he was with her, it was probably okay.

100

Shawndra Quinn @shawndra.northsky.social · 08/07/2026

Anyway, continuing with my reread... I'm gonna glaze over the next part a bit, but suffice to say that by the end of chapter 5, he's decided to accept her help. In chapter 6, he decides he'll come out (of his castle, not the closet) and meet her friends.

Finally decided, he collapsed into her arms crying. "I... please help me... show me what is right."

She held him tightly, stroking his hair again. "Don't worry... I'll do my best."

"You're right.." Xeron admitted, "Again. If you think your friends will accept me... then I'll go with you. Just... to be with you, if nothing else..."

Linalia smiled. "It's settled then. We'll leave first thing tomorrow morning. I'd say earlier, but it's a good day's journey back to town, and we aren't really prepared to make any sort of camp."

"Okay," Xeron said, "I need the extra time to get ready, anyway."

100

Shawndra Quinn @shawndra.northsky.social · 08/07/2026

She decides to stay with him for a while and help him realize who he is; a kind person, and not the cold, withdrawn person he is convinced himself he was. It's about this point in my 25-years-later reread that I said "Oh fuck... Did I unknowingly write a trans allegory in high school?"

Linalia was still persistent. "I'm not going to leave you alone like this... you can't just take all this alone..."

"Why not? I always have before..."

"Which is even more reason I want to help you! Don't you get it? That's how people's lives are supposed to be!"

Xeron turned away, curling up in a ball, facing the wall. "Not my life... my life has never been like that..."

Linalia suddenly grew silent, remembering how most necromancers got their start. They were usually ignored as children... not cared about by anyone. She suddenly felt very deeply for this man who she had wanted to kill just shortly before.

"I'm staying with you... however long it takes. You can't get rid of me anyway, so don't bother trying."

100

Shawndra Quinn @shawndra.northsky.social · 08/07/2026

He realizes he can't kill her, and after he gives up, she realizes she doesn't want to kill him anymore either. Why? Because she sees something in him that he doesn't see for himself.

Finally, she got up the courage to ask, "Wha.. what are you waiting for? Why don't you just kill me?"

"I..." he hesitated, not quite sure himself. "It's nothing.. just that... you may be better use to me alive."

She wasn't convinced. "If it's just that... then why are you trembling?"

"So now you're going to keep me alive because I'm a failure? A Necromancer afraid of killing? Just kill me now... get it over with."

Linalia stubbornly put her arm around him, now convinced that he could not be what she came here to find. "No... I'm not sparing you because you're bad as a Necromancer... but because you're good as a person. Because you have a heart."

Shawndra Quinn @shawndra.northsky.social · 08/07/2026

They end up in a sword fight and he disarms her; such riveting action! 😅 But the chapter ends with him stopping short of killing her.

She stumbled slightly, then stood back up, blocking and parrying his blow. They traded several blows, until finally he caught her in a fancy maneuver that sent her sword flying to the other side of the room, and sent her stumbling, falling, down on her back. He lunged at her, wasting no time, his blade, right at her neck. Then... he stopped.

100

Shawndra Quinn @shawndra.northsky.social · 07/07/2026

The first chapter opens from the perspective of a necromancer. His castle is being assaulted by a powerful wood elf spellcaster. Lots of spell names from the Warhammer rulebook are used, in capital letters so you know those are the official spell names. :P

She was surprisingly good, however, so he decided to stop wasting magic on small fries like zombies. It was time to get serious. He threw out a Summon Undead Horde spell, bringing no less then 15 skeletons to life around her. Then he cast the lesser version, Raise the Dead, and brought about 10 new zombies to join the fray. He didn't estimate she'd be able to hold up against these new adversaries...

Turns out the color was actually almost perfect, but I didn't use enough of it, initially. With a few more layers, it looks really good.

Same base, but the off-white is painted on more thickly and is a great match for the board.

Working on bases for my Blood Bowl Lizardmen team; trying to make them match their pitch at least somewhat well. I think this test base came out reasonably well.
