Gannett's not private equity. They were a big player in media monopolization in the 1980s, and they are the founder of USA Today (or, as many called it when it first rolled out, "McNews").

Can't wait until this comes out, 2+ years in the making! I have a chapter with an in-depth analysis of the organizing on the show "Superstore," and yeah, I'm annoying in my critique. sunypress.edu/Books/S/So-L...!

I thought the issue is that a lot of critics said, "this is one of the most compelling and disturbing portraits of teenage schyzophrenia" and the director was like, "no, no, no. he really can time travel and he sacrificed himself for the greater good." (Donnie Darko, FYI.)

Tax on social media that funds the Internet Archive. Copyrights that expire in 20 years and disappear entirely if you take your shit off the internet. Three new public television networks. C'mon. Let's think bigger.

I swear...if the Dems tax policy their way "out" of the media crisis, we're all dead. Ultimately, we need stricter FCC rules about ownership concentration; forcing a fire-sale while we convert 50% of broadcast licenses to non-commercial. And prosecute obvious bribery & antitrust cases.

Just got rejected by a publisher that strung me along for an entire year. I'm kicking myself for thinking they could be a good home to a book that is anything but strictly reverential about "the Prophet."

If/when the "Bari fired" scoop comes, it'll be from @status.news—to whom nearly everyone at CBS News as been leaking for months—and not some content farm with "likely" in quotes in the hed, which is never sourced to anyone in the "article." I know we want it, friends, but let's stick with reality.💛

The cowardice, I think, comes a little of fearing Musk pouring money into their races (which he might otherwise ignore, in "safe" seats in NY, CA, etc.). Possibly more fear of getting complaints from their "good millionaires" about class war or some nonsense.

The NY Daily News recently reduced their mac word count for an op-ed to 600 words. I submitted a piece under the old 700 word count last week, and was told they want to run it but it has to fit. Yes, real pride in cutting that much from a piece and not losing any meaning.
