Agreed. Shame is an underused and potentially powerful means stop people, organizations, and even governments from harming others. @sharonyadin.bsky.social & I explored its potential for protecting the climate in this paper last year. @docsforclimate.bsky.social @mason4c.bsky.social

Regulator-regulatee agreements constitute the dominant paradigm of #regulation - that's the main argument of my new article, forthcoming in the Harvard Negotiation Law Review, "The Hidden Nature of Regulation." Read all about it in my blog post on @theregreview.bsky.social: tinyurl.com/44ypen87

If ever there was a moment to shame climate wrongdoers, that moment is now. To that end, I offer a recently published article (by @sharonyadin.bsky.social & me) on how ordinary folks like you & me--plus civil society & governments--can harness the power of shame. @ioppublishing.bsky.social

Very happy to have contributed to this amazing project as co-editor & co-author of a chapter on civil society pushback against climate obstruction, and as co-author of a chapter on legal and regulatory tools to fight climate obstruction. In both chapters, my contribution focused on climate shaming.

I'm a fan of law professor Sharon Yadin's writing on regulators use of shaming to increase regulatory compliance. Her new paper argues "agreement-based regulation" (negotiation & agreement) is not a mere tool in the regulator’s toolkit, but its dominant paradigm: papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers....
