Good fucking lord I hate that I have to say this. Yes, FA costs $300k per year. This $180,000 covers the shortfall. FA+ is $60 per year and only 2,000 people need to have it to make up the other $120,000, and that's not including the shop where they sell merchandise as well as the owner's own cash.

The situation with FurAffinity is pretty amazing. Advertisers threatened their advertising revenue because they considered Plus Sized characters and characters HUGGING to be adult content. So FA said fuck off, and in two days raised their entire yearly funding. Advertisers are so bullshit stupid.

FurAffinity (a furry focused online art gallery) is looking for funding after refusing to comply with advertiser demands. And oh boy are some of those advertiser demands pretty ridiculous. (alt text added)

A post from a FurAffinity developer blog which says:

What makes this situation frustrating is that the bar for what advertisers consider "adult content" is very very low. For example they consider plus size characters, two characters hugging, and "barbie doll nudity" to be adult content, despite these being normal everyday things that are not adult at all. This is why you may see other sites with restrictions on how characters cant be posed or dressed "too provocatively."

We receive a daily list of items that they have flagged as violations and have to sort through them. If they're legitimate violations, we re-rate them. If they aren't, we don't touch them. Submissions that are not violations of our policies are still held against us.

We have had many email conversations, Zoom calls, and even an in-person meeting with representatives to help resolve this to no avail.
