Today, while browsing through the Way Back Machine on Internet Archive, I stumbled upon an old website that I had made. This was almost certainly my first "professional" website, and I believe I made it in the year 2000 when I was sixteen. blog.shannonkay.com/2026/08-1... #OldWeb #Blaugust

Happy HTML Day! Maybe you don't have time to write a whole HTML document today. That's ok. Let's write the HTML for a link! Link to your website or any website you want. <a href="https://make.yourownwebsite.org">Make Your Own Website</a> #HTMLDay2026 #HTML #HTMLDay #SmallWeb #Websites

Linking
Linking pages and websites together is what makes the internet a network. The HTML for creating links is an <a>(anchor) tag with an attribute called href.

Writing a link in HTML looks like this.
<a href="about.html">About</a>

The a tag has an opening and closing, just like the other tags we've been using. The text between the tags is what will show on the page for users to click(or tap) to follow the link. In this example, I'm linking to a file called "about.html" and my link's text will say "About". The file needs to be in the same folder as the page I'm putting the link on for it to work with just the file name like this.

If the file is in a subfolder, include the path like this.
<a href="about/index.html">About</a>

And when you're linking to different website, be sure to include the full url like this.

The Dividing Sky by Jill Tew sang. It's a dystopian sci-fi adventure, but also had cozy vibe moments, somehow. If you want to read a great dystopian romance, this is it! Beautiful special edition by Brave + Kind Books. blog.shannonkay.com/2025/01-29-TheD… #JillTew #TheDividingSk

Wings of Starlight by Allison Saft, a prequel YA romance based on TinkerBell movie *Secret of the Wings*, came out this week. My 13-year-old has already finished it; I'm only 58% through. She's hovering anxiously, waiting for me to finish the book so she can talk about it. Is this a buddy read?

Book cover for Wings of Starlight by Allison Saft. The cover art shows a fairy’s back, showing off her golden and sparkling wings. The fairy’s head is tilted so that you can see the side of her face. The background is blue and purple, and dandelion fluff floats around. Everything shimmers with pixie dust.

I decided to try some photos taken with a Nintendo 3DS XL for the challenge( #ShittyCameraChallenge ). I exported the jpg with both frames next to each other and two separate photos so you can swipe between them. Here’s a link to the 3D MPO file, in case anyone wants to attempt to view it in 3D.

On Friday, we went to the Hollywood Bowl to see Death Cab for Cutie and The Postal Service for the 20th anniversary of tour of Transatlanticism and Give Up. We were excited to see The Beths again as the opening act that night. It was so good. photo.shannonkay.com/Events/Holly...

Thursday night we left the house and saw The Beths in concert at Lodge Room in LA. It was a great show at a small venue. I wish we could’ve come back for all of their shows this weekend!
