Other than someone checking their bank statement - which these days may be filled with many multiple payments due to tap payments - is there a way for someone to know if they're subscribed? For example if they did so years ago when you first started?

I think, but am not sure, that if a SO bounces a second time, the bank automatically cancels it.

The underscreen selfie camera seems to be a visible notch whilst in the camera app of all things? Surely that can't be the case but looked that way in the Verge's video. Presumably that folding animation blur also fed into the reason for the Liquid Glass OS.

My first experience - that I'm aware of, which is part of the problem - was a woman wearing them at a hotel swimming pool. Several children in the pool, including my own. I recently needed to buy some regular sunglasses. One reason that I didn't opt for Ray Bans was because of the creep connection.

Looks like top of wall to me. If it's a bungalow, I'd start with the gutters. Are they blocked, when it rains heavily are they splashing at a joint or at the downpipe, or is water running straight off the roof and missing the gutter entirely

Shane Waring @shanewaring.bsky.social · 23/08/2026
Is it top or bottom of wall? Look for a small internal water drip, such as from a under a shower or a radiator pipe or the water trap of a sink If not internal, it might be rising damp or something bridging the cavity gap inside the wall, or a cracked slate at the roof. All solvable.

[some-subscribed-rss] New Post: Vision Pro and glasses: the job is seeing, not capturing, by Horace Dediu asymco.com/2026/08/11/vision-pro-an…
Teaser:

Will Apple keep developing the Vision Pro? Absolutely, says Horace Dediu—but the real story is what they’re learning for a far bigger market: glasses. In this Office Hours Q&A, Dediu argues that the job of face-worn devices isn’t capturing data, but seeing better. Drawing lessons from the Apple Watch’s band innovation and Zeiss magnetic lenses, he explains why Apple’s approach to eyewear will be fundamentally different from Meta’s—and why that matters. The Vision Pro is an emergent strategy in the wild, and the payoff may be a computer on your face that more people wear than a watch. But don’t expect Apple to follow the camera-first playbook. Read the full transcript to see where Dediu thinks this is heading.

Unclear how the tap to 'take photo of what you're seeing' will work...if the person needs to looks at their watch when trying to press it. Their arm is clearly in the way of their eye line in that demo of the clothes photo.

I hadn't realised that the Vision Pro did all these different things for EyeSight. Quite a learning curve for others to know the various colours. support.apple.com/en-ie/120481 I strongly doubt Apple will go an LED route. It's far too...inelegant, I'd have thought.

I reckon it's that people think of trains and trams as being good transport, but not so buses. If I'm abroad I rarely will attempt a bus, but will a train or tram no problem - there's just something easier about them. Also bus times are almost always far longer than driving.

When view it like that, their strategy is logical. Start with the desk row to sidestep glasshole issues and where weight (and separate battery) is less of a problem. Start with the pro column as it's going to be expensive. Too soon for desk consumer I'd say. So probably pro mobile the next cell.

@hilli.tech Do you reckon Apple are following the game plan of Steve's 2x2 matrix for spatial computing? Meta and Snap, of course, in the diagonally-opposite corner.
2 by 2 matrix

Consumer versus professional
Desktop versus mobile

The only cell filled in is the professional desktop category - with the Apple Vision Pro

I'll never understand how people choose to replace this with that.
Gable end of a house with a slim timber sash window with ornate Victorian balustrade and a very pretty circular window above with cartwheel decoration. Render on the wall itself shows the patina of time. Chunky PVC windows in there now-everywhere charcoal grey colour. Upstairs circular window has been removed. Victorian balustrade has also been removed. Smooth render over the wall painted. It might as well be a modern building at this stage.

Because the user themselves can't see it whilst wearing it? Black + M6 in a 2026 model might be a simple way to signal their continued support with minimal effort needed? M6 on its own might be too little. Last year they'd the new strap to offer.

At the end of it all… the ballot papers and all related documents are bagged up and retained for six months in case of any dispute or challenge to the conduct of the election. And in three years we elect 949 councillors and 14 MEPs, and months after that maybe another 184 TDs, and we go again.
