A trans woman who hosts a radio show in Portland OR is going to interview Zander Keig about this recent controversy. Keig has decided to take Jamison Green with him. So when I say older trans people like Jamison Green knowingly cover for Keig & his anti-trans activism, this is exactly what I mean.

Hi, I'm an older genderqueer trans man. I've been out of the activist loop for a bit due to illness, but I've noticed there's a trend among some peers of mine to call themselves "elders" and they've been espousing a lot of transmed (and worse) ideas. I want to help with a response to that nonsense.

People who transitioned a long time ago are not your elders. They might not even be your allies. A lot of self-described "elders" do not support self-ID as trans or acknowledge nonbinary identities. Others won't confront transmedicalist peers. They blame you for MAGA & gender critical activism.

Yes, Mary Peltola is a conservative "blue dog" Democrat! She only served one full term as a Representative because of her terrible voting record. She's being recycled as a Senate candidate because of her backers at ConocoPhillips. It's NO SURPRISE at all that she's also anti-trans.

I keep seeing accounts from my older trans masc peers saying something like "we have the wisdom & no one is listening to us." If they were to self-reflect at all, they'd know it is a normal part of aging that you may no longer be a center of focus & you have to make room for the ideas of others.

I started transitioning in 1998 when I started therapy and changed my name. It took me 2 more years to get to hormone use because this was before informed consent. I had to see two therapists for about a year each, I had to pay for it all out of pocket, and one of them had to have a PhD.

This was my gander friend. He would watch over all the geese, ducks and chickens. He's standing on my extra hot compost pile. Even in an Alaska winter, that pile was still cooking and little wisps of steam escaped from a little melt hole in the snow.

In my experience, Rodrigo Heng-Lehtinen is a bad actor. I believe he was brought in to ease The Trevor Project away from advocacy for trans youth. A lot of nonprofits are seeing a downturn in their funding, so they are blaming their own advocacy and community activism. They are ratcheting right.

I'm researching some of the collusion of LGBT nonprofits with anti-trans activists & conservatives. It's very scary and it's our own people doing it. We made it possible for them to have these professional careers, and to be in positions of power, and they do not care at all about the rest of us.

I've been an activist since 1986/7 when I started hanging out with cool religious people who welcomed in gay people, war resistors league, rev comms (rcyb) & independent radio punk, metal and gay/lesbian shows. Then I got involved with ActUp and Queer Nation and fought some skinhead gangs on my own.

Be careful about subscribing to moderation services. I added a lot when I closed my twitter account & moved over here, because twitter was so awful. Sometimes the moderation & lists are misused or are a blunt tool. I was probably missing out on some discussions, so I've unsubbed from most of them.

Alaska Federation of Natives (AFN) is seeking to hire village voting ambassadors for the upcoming election. In the primary, there were many problems with lack of payment to & lack of staff at rural Alaska polling places. Many opened late & had restricted hours. AFN's facebook page has more info.

Title: Body shaming
Regarding C.W. Nevius’ “Nude Trump statue gone, but legacy lingers” (Aug. 30): The Donald Trump statues were wrongly compared to Robert Arneson’s 1981 bust of former Mayor George Moscone.

As the protester who was referenced in the article and as a sculptor in Arneson’s lineage, I need to address this issue. It’s the spectacle of San Franciscans jeering at the physical qualities of the Trump statue that I was protesting, not the actual statues themselves, which are not well-crafted and are like the punch line of a grade-school joke.

On the other hand, Arneson’s Moscone bust is truly radical artwork. It explores the violence and hypocrisy of the murders and the “Twinkie defense.” Instead of glossing over these hard truths and making a plain, noble-looking bust, Arneson memorialized the circumstances of Moscone’s (and Harvey Milk’s) death as part of the legacy of the city and its painful civil rights struggles.

Arneson was incredibly brave in his commitment, and the Moscone bust is an outstanding reminder to us of what happens when hatreds are stirred up and go unchecked. It’s not useful to argue whether the Trump statues are art, but it is important to examine the hateful, body-shaming reactions they generated.

Iñupiaq DSA candidate for US Senate, David Leslie (@kenske.bsky.social) secured 4th place in Alaska's open primary, which means he will be on the ballot in our ranked choice election in November. Few news outlets are reporting on this, but here's a recent interview of Leslie in the Northern Journal.

Planned Parenthood could have backed both Tom Begich AND Meda DeWitt. It makes no sense at all that an advocacy organization choose one over the other. BUT my opinion as an activist is that they also erred because DeWitt is a much stronger advocate for both LGBT+ & reproductive healthcare access.

I'm encountering some cyberstalking because I'm outing an anti-trans, "gender critical" activist within the trans community. I'm sure his cronies are also in on it. What bothers me, besides the anti-trans activism, is how other older trans men shield Keig with their reputations.
