The deal blends two historic film studios, two streaming platforms and two news organizations.

The acquisition of Paramount Skydance by Warner Bros. In a press release on Tuesday, Skydance shared details of the $110 billion merger and provided insight into its future plans. Most notably, the company confirmed that the streaming services it now owns, including Paramount+, HBO Max, and Discovery+, will eventually be unified into a single service. "Consumers can expect greater innovation from a company built with technology at its core, including significant improvements to its direct-to-consumer streaming products, which will eventually converge into a single service," Skydance said.

It's been over a year since Paramount Skydance decided to buy one of Hollywood's most iconic institutions. After repeated rejections, a subsequent bidding war, a series of regulatory approvals, an antitrust challenge by the state attorney general and a timely settlement, the David Ellison-run company completed its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery on Friday. The combined company, which is one of the largest media conglomerates in history, has a new name Skydance and trades under the ticker symbol "SKYD." It brings together two of the most storied film studios and nearly one-third of basic cable programming.
