I like seeing the palettes of others, so I’m posting my own.

A palette of coated paper with a variety of skin tones mixed on it in oil paints. Colors are all Winsor and Newton oil paints: Indian red, alizarin crimson, Winsor yellow, Winsor blue, titanium white, ivory black, and burnt umber.

Taking a virtual oil painting class with #Malte #Dueholm. Just finished week 3 assignment, which was to paint the initial layer of skin and the corset; we will return to the skin later in the course. #maltedueholm #watchpaintdry_minis #wpdminis.com #minipainting #nerdlings #oilpainting #wip #art

Taking a virtual oil painting class with #Malte #Dueholm. This is refinement after feedback of the week two assignment, which was to paint the initial layer of hair (another layer will come later). #maltedueholm #watchpaintdry_minis #wpdminis.com #minipainting #nerdlings #oilpainting #wip #art

Taking a virtual oil painting class with #Malte #Dueholm. Week two’s homework: paint the initial layer of hair with oils. I was shocked at how intuitive it is (at least for me) to use oils! Total fun! #maltedueholm #watchpaintdry_minis #wpdminis.com #minipainting #nerdlings #oilpainting #wip #art

A painted miniature bust of a Caucasian brunette woman wearing a purplish blue corset and a blue ribbon as a choker. Her hair seems a bit glossy because the oil paints aren’t yet cured, though highlights are painted on, adding to the effect. Front view.

Extra points for including the palette shot!

Taking a virtual mini oil painting class. First assignment with the oils: simply draw and blend some squares and get a feel for the paint. In prep for painting the mini’s hair, I also played around with a gradient for the highlights. #nerdlings #minipainting #art #malte #dueholm #oilpanting

Two pieces of plastic with six pairs of squares (two pairs of yellow ochre and Indian red, two pairs of Winsor yellow and Indian red, a pair of alizarin crimson and Winsor yellow, and a pair of alizarin crimson and yellow ochre) blended together. There is a square of violet with a gradient of a desaturated green on it. There is a rectangle of Indian red with Winsor yellow blended, and two rectangles of yellow ochre with Winsor yellow blended. There is also violet mixed with progressively greater concentrations of Winsor yellow and white, which ended up a washed out desaturated green.

I agree about the lack of interaction and appreciate whet you are trying to build!

Corrections made for the oil painting class by #Malte #Dueholm #Baadsgaard. (YT: watchpaintdry_minis, wpdminis.com). Focus is on basing matte acrylic paints so the oils have something to bite into, to have clean border separations, and to paint the eyes. #nerdlings #minipainting #oilpainting #bust

A bust of a brunette green-eyed woman wearing a bluish purple corset and a blue choker. Only matte acrylic paints have been applied to establish a base cost and give the oil paints something to bite into and stick.

Holy cow, I can’t believe you mentioned me and my painting is seen this way! This is super special to me! Many thanks! And if anyone hasn’t checked out Pes’ work, please do so. It’s hella inspiring, best of its type! Also, Pes, I now follow these folks! Great adds, thanks!

Taking another virtual class with Malte Dueholm Baadsgaard, this time an oil painting one. Base coated the bust with matte paints so the oils can bite onto the mini. Will clean up the lower eye liner later. #malte #dueholm #baadsgaard #watchpaintdry_minis #minipainting #nerdlings #oilpainting

A miniature bust of a woman wearing what seems to be a purplish bustier and a black ribbon tied like a choker around her neck. Her hair is black and her eyes are green. These are merely base coats and layers of oil paints will follow. The skin was painted with Pro Acryl’s tan skin and the rest was painted using Golden SoFlats paints, black, white, blue violet, phthalo green, and permanent green.

Super fun class with #Michal #Szymeczko (Mihausz Studio), I highly recommend! The workflow taught me a ton though the class didn’t finish the mini. Really happy with the result even if incomplete! #lava #mermaid #lavamermaid #mihausz #mihauszstudio #wip #miniaturepainting #minipainting #nerdlings

A mostly painted lava mermaid, heavily painted in yellows, oranges, and reds, with pink and blue hair. The base is largely unpainted, lightly airbrushed with yellows and oranges on the rocks and waves of ocean water. Front view.

Really fun class with Michal Szymeczko (Mihausz Studio). Day one nearly done now, looking forward to tomorrow! So far all airbrush, no paintbrush yet! #michal #szymeczko #lava #mermaid #lavamermaid #mihausz #mihauszstudio #wip #miniaturepainting #minipainting

A lava mermaid being used by Michal Szymeczko (Mihausz Studio) to teach a workshop. Looks like a stereotypical mermaid on rocks, except she appears to be glowing as if she can easily swim in lava. There are lots of yellow, oranges, and reds reminding one of a fire or lava. Front view.

I got this from Otherworld too! Sadly I haven’t painted it yet and it’s no longer available from them. 😔

Took a fabulous class on skin and #NMM with Mikhal Pisarski. We all ran out of time to paint the leather, hair, eyes, and some details. I didn’t deeply understand until about 75% of the way through and tried to refine/adjust but ran out of time. I will repaint this bust to cement what I learned.

A largely painted miniature bust of a Caucasian woman wearing armor. There are reflections visible on the armor and it has a bluish hue.

“Negative stat modifiers will heal non-undead & act as bonus dmg for undead. Positive stat modifiers will act as bonus dmg for non-undead & heal undead.” Boom! Instantly, halflings & gnomes become the scourge of undead everywhere. Intelligent undead swarm those communities, which are underground!

Yeah, I loved that comic until the whole Roman/747 storyline…that was a bit disappointing for me. It recovered but wasn’t the same after that.

I need to paint & finish a mini as a gift this weekend, & then I’ll devote myself to painting this little Burrowing Horror. (The black stuff is superglue + some baking soda.) @reaperminiatures.bsky.social #nerdlings #burrowinghorror #dnd #d&d #reaperminiatures #reaper #art #wip #miniaturepainting

Another feature of aging is forgetting you have already given them all away and there are none left to give.

Took a class with Erik Swinson on values. Many know the goal isn’t to finish these figures in a teaching weekend though it would be nice — really it’s to do as much as you can using the techniques taught. Sculpt by Joaquin Palacios #joapalastudio. #nerdlings #minipainting #art #bust #dnd #d&d

A painted miniature bust of a man clutching the hilt and upper scabbard of a great sword. He is wearing a green cloak with yellowish-brown trim, a leather wrap around one wrist, and three red bracelets around the other. He has a far away look in his eyes.

Though it depicts a Peryton the product is called "SPIRIT BEAST" and it is by Reaped Miniatures.

This may be the final mini I have that I cannot dentify. It’s seems to be a peryton, a winged stag. I think it’s from Ral Partha, has an RPM stamp on the bottom. @delaneyking.bsky.social, do you have any ideas? I’d offer a virtual cookie, but you deserve a virtual cake!

Yet another mini I have that I can’t identify. I suspect it’s Reaper, but I can’t find it on their website. I also checked Ral Partha’s site to no avail. It lacks a Grenadier feel, so I’m at a loss. @delaneyking.bsky.social, could you please share if you have any idea?

Tell me about it! It’s ridiculously fascinating to me! I’m finally inventorying my minis and can’t wait to raid my pile of opportunity for my metal minis. I’ve got nearly the whole line of of Grenadier’s Undead Legion and Julie Guthrie’s Dragons! I didn’t realize I’d had so many….

Delaney worked her magic! Again, Delaney, many many thanks for working your magick!!!! I bought these when they were sold in hobby shops, when I barely had two Pennie’s to rub together. Shocking that some of them are worth some dough!
