you folks ever watch a man give a cow a manicure?

Christopher Morgan @shadeofpoe.bsky.social · 13/07/2026

I promise, every publishing house, whether you're author, editor, marketer, or publisher, they don't care about you. They see you as a product, or a potential product. If you don't think that's true, please, share with us your marketing budget.

You know what's frustrating? How hard it is to switch your profession after spending a decade doing a thing. I don't think a lot of editors or former editros talk about that, but It fucking sucks.

I swear to Christ in Heaven, if you people keep saying that Sanderson is the solution to fantasy and deserves respect I will come back to life and fight you all.

Should we (eldar millennials) rejoice that we are the last remaining holdout of nostalgia marketing schlock?

i think, broadly speaking, it’s important that we start making way more and way firmer distinctions between ‘posting about it’ and ‘actually helping’

There is no more perfect casting than Randy Savage as Bonesaw.

One of the things I think about often is when I was working 3rd shift at the gas station, a dude comes in, holds me up, but he was just sad that his person broke up with him. Even waited with him for the cops to show up. My boss yelled at me for not cleaning up the booze he spilt.

Watching the directors cut of RoboCop and realizing that "Mr Morgan" is basically the burke of this world.

For the record, when the Real Ones discuss the effectiveness of "Boob Plate" they also account for the Golden Age of Sword and Sorcery movies.

I live and believe that there will be a day where I wake up to an internet that is more 2002 and less batshit, but yet...

One of my favorite things that Terry Pratchett gave us is that Death knows the song that will end everything, but chooses not to.

This year I'm going to be aggressively honest and me.

For the record, in a lot of times, where it counts, being clever doesn't really matter.

Ok, so, for you new guys. just know that the media loves megaphoning this man. Everything he says, no matter how fucking insane or stupid to any rational human it sounds, they will present as an actuality. This is not the case. It is intentionally trying to gas you up.

Ok, I had a joke about Vigo blocking the knife then Boromir asked about the little ones.

As a straightish man, Vigo saluting the Orce is fucking hot.

Oh, my boy just embarrassed himself, that means he's going to die soon... Am I wrong for wanting to see Sean Bean shot through 200x?

020

Christopher Morgan @shadeofpoe.bsky.social · 18/12/2024

I know Sean Bean has a whole meme legacy, but I do believe he, like his character, gets overshadowed by Vigo.

"Here's one dwarf she won't ensnare so easily" Sure Gimli, we all know the "Dark Queen" bit is coming and empires would fall for Evil Galadriel

Look, when a man like gimli says "we should obliterate this" you should listen.

Ok. Objectively, Arwyen says " five riders follow you, I can'tr account for the four others" or some shit. BUT, Aragorn knows he just set fire to four sons of bitches at Weathertop, but he's letting his girl just sweat it.

I have a shirt that has a legally distinct phrase + book/rainbow image that has no other ties to any other ip, however I really like wearing it around my neighborhood because you can see every single adult who grew up watching Giordi talk about books and it is magical.

What they don't tell you about being emotionally aware is that there is no world where you're not going to sound like an ass, and you have to embrace that.

May we all find the joy that GI Robot has when he finds Nazis. It's pure, it's child like. it's what humans are supposed to feel. Also, Creature Commandos or Howling Commandos or whatever the hell this is is fun.

I'm very sincerely jealous of how James Gunn is able to blend the extremes of emotions. Like how he bounces between the extreme highs and lows feels inspired, and I wish I knew how to recreate it.

The one and only take Ill provide. It is possible to be justified in doing a murder but still acknowledge that murder isn't a valid answer. Multiple things can be true at once. That said, a McD employee getting paid for turning in a murderer is also it's own kind of justice.
