Some time in... 4th grade? It was a VERY late realization, but I realized I was "weird" when the thought occurred to me that, oh, kids didn't want to be my friend or come to my house. Not because of anything wrong, but because having a TARANTULA as a pet was not common amongst kindergarteners.

Her name was Santana and she was very sweet. I was five years old and had decided she was comparable to a puppy, just more fragile and didn't play fetch.

I feel like some people in animation fandoms keep lists of Acceptable and Unacceptable ships, and would absolutely be using them to run brutal real life show-trials if society went maybe 20% further downhill.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) "Star Trek Historian, Ben Robinson, and host, Ashley Robinson, look at the iterative process of concept art that shows the massive undertaking it took behind the scenes to create V'Ger." I'm a bit jealous 😇 There are some great production documents in there.

I have finally listened to a translation of The Odyssey. Very enjoyable! Though on his return, Odysseus 'Secret Boss'-ing one of his old slaves to say 'sure your story is bad but MY life has been hard as well' was quite funny. I mean come on, man.

I saw Digger... I really enjoyed it! There are excellent performances, including from Cruise, and it evolves in a way you may not expect from the bombastic trailer. It was not entirely the film I expected it to be... and that was an entirely pleasant surprise.

High af thought while playing GTA: San Andreas on the PS2. While it’s historically accurate that there shouldn’t be GPS lines to ur point in San Andreas, the lack of lines to waypoints encourages exploration and memorization of landmarks. Idk, I just find it neat after I was so against the idea…

Just to give you an idea of how intentionally deceptive Happy Science is, nearly every one of their movies features stand-ins for both the Happy Science organization itself, and its (deceased, lmao) god-figurehead, Ryuho Okawa; they’re under different names each time to blend in and seem “normal”.

This isn’t to knock on actors for taking work; the point is that some productions are just not up-front about what they are and, in fact, deliberately hide or manipulate the truth to keep their goals a secret. Incidentally, Happy Science has ties to the Republican Party.

This is more common than you’d sadly think. In the anime voice acting sphere, there is a series of animated films made by an actual cult known as Happy Science. A lot of household name actors have voiced in these; I doubt many of them knew that when they recorded. Sometimes it’s just a paycheck.
