On Twitter they blamed a mechanical issue at Wilshire/Vermont, but that doesn't explain why 3 B lines before 1 D line. Was the D line path blocked? It's a mystery block.

Is something wrong with Los Angeles Metro purple D line or the tracks by LA Union Station? Last night our inbound got stuck 1-2 stations before LAUS (waiting in the tunnel). This morning they ran 3 outbound B red lines (1 changed last minute from D to B), before finally an outbound D line.

LA Metro D line (purple) is delayed going into Union Station. Some power issue maybe. Lights went half off for a few minutes while waiting in the tunnel.

Between noon and now, I've watched the #RiverFire south of El Monte grow from 0.5 to 8 acres. Sucks for people who live between these two fires. Change clothes and shower if you spend time outside. Bring a water bottle and wash your eyes occasionally. Wear an N95 or KN95 mask, even an old one.

There probably is a map of the whole system somewhere but it wasn't anywhere near the escalators. When tired elderly people ask for help, it isn't practical to walk them to the end of the platform away from the waiting train. #LAMetro #LosAngeles #DLineExtension

Wilshire/La Cienega needs a map of the whole system (not just D line and nearly streets). Today I helped a visitor guy who had gone back and forth on the D line 6 time (he said) trying to get to North Hollywood. I helped him transfer at Wilshire/Vermont to the B line. Also D and B sound too similar.

Metrolink farebox ridership continues to increase over previous years. Total ridership is down because of the end of state funding for free student fares, not because of anything Metrolink did. But revenue-generating trips are up, suggesting continued recovery and demand.
Chart showing Metrolink ridership from July-Feb. total monthly ridership for 2025 is higher than 2026, but farebox ridership is higher. actual 2026 ridership is about 150k lower than projected.

Metrolink train service reductions will continue beyond the original 7 weeks (no end date) because ridership is still below pre-pandemic levels and funding is also an issue. Metrolink might need to increase fares. More info: metrolinktrains.com/schedule-upd...

LA Metro stations are getting pop-up metal detectors. They set them up for a few days and then take them down and move on to another station. I passed through one this week and there were maybe 14-18 security officers, when usually I see 2 or less.

Mayor Bass Reduces Curfew Hours Within Downtown L.A.

LOS ANGELES – Mayor Karen Bass has reduced the curfew hours for Downtown Los Angeles following successful crime prevention and suppression efforts. Effective today, Monday, June 16, the curfew will be in effect from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM. Mayor Bass instituted the curfew with support from elected, law enforcement and business leaders six days ago.

“The curfew, coupled with ongoing crime prevention efforts, have been largely successful in protecting stores, restaurants, businesses and residential communities from bad actors who do not care about the immigrant community,” Mayor Bass said. “Today, I am narrowing the curfew as we continue to quickly adjust to changing posturing out of Washington. I want the Downtown Los Angeles community of residents, business owners and events venues to know that my priority will continue to be ensuring safety, stability and support in the Downtown neighborhoods.”

"We’re committed to supporting Downtown L.A. residents, small businesses, and workers while standing proudly with our immigrant communities and peaceful demonstrators who make our city vibrant and strong,” said Councilmember Ysabel Jurado, who represents neighborhoods within the curfew area. “Pushing the curfew start time is a step in the right direction."

“As the curfew is narrowed, we’re continuing to ensure residents and businesses in the affected areas have the support they need,” said Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez, who represents communities within the curfew area. “We remain focused on protecting immigrant communities, supporting small businesses, and defending the constitutional rights of all Angelenos.”

The adjustment to the curfew follows a marked reduction in acts of violence, vandalism and looting that happened during the immediate escalation of the situation by the Trump Administration. The curfew area covers Downtown Los Angeles and represents less than eight square miles of the city.
